Dark Roast Coffeehouse: A Fresh Brew in Maginhawa

For the true coffee connoisseurs, dark roast stands out for its distinctive, bold flavor profile. Known for their dark brown hue and shiny oil-sheened surface, dark roasts undergo a longer roasting process that not only darkens the beans but also enhances their natural flavors, reducing acidity and bringing forth a rich, robust taste. These coffees often reveal deep, chocolaty, or nutty notes, appealing to those who prefer a hearty, impactful coffee experience.

It is this strong and full-bodied type of coffee that forms the cornerstone of the newly opened Dark Roast Coffeehouse in Quezon City.

A quaint yet vibrant new coffee spot, with a modern industrialist interiors, Dark Roast Coffeehouse, has begun brewing its first batches in the heart of Teachers Village at 107 Maginhawa Street, TKC Square.

This establishment was born from the shared dreams and passions of four friends—Krista, Eli, Jianne, and John—who shared a passion for diving and bonded over countless cups of coffee. But not just ordinary coffee, as the four friends love Dark Roast–and was also the simple reason for choosing it as the name of the cafe.

Their quest for the best coffee beans led them to the scenic highlands of Baguio, where they immersed themselves in the art of coffee, learning about various beans and roasting techniques. Their commitment was clear: to bring uncompromised quality and a unique coffee experience to coffee lovers.

“We’re excited to bring our unique dark roast blends to the vibrant community of Quezon City,” said Jianne Yu, spokesperson for Dark Roast Coffehouse. “We believe that our coffee will offer a new and exciting experience for coffee lovers in the area.”

The owners are dedicated to providing a complete coffee experience; from classic espressos to inventive blends, there’s something for every palate. Moreover, catering to diverse preferences and dietary needs, clients can customize their drinks with dairyfree milk options upon request. They also have a delectable selection of pastries and cookies.

When asked about her recommendations, Jianne suggested we try the salted caramel, spanish latte and a unique creme brulee blend. For Non coffee, we were able to try the Fizzy Peach, but the Matcha Latte and Strawberry Latte are also good choices for first timers.

The soft opening event held last weekend, featured a variety of dark roast coffee blends, each carefully crafted to provide a rich and robust flavor that coffee enthusiasts will love.

It also included coffee tastings, live music, and a meet-and-greet with the Dark Roast Coffehouse team. Guests will also have the opportunity to learn more about the art of coffee roasting and brewing.
