The global health pandemic brought about by COVID-19 has had adverse effects on almost every industry and has placed the entire world in an almost economic standstill—and there’s still no end in sight.
It has also proven to be one of the most serious challenges faced by financial institutions in nearly a century. Now, the banking sector finds itself juggling its priorities on how to manage revenue and customer expectations and comply with the health protocols mandated by the government.
When the enhanced community quarantine took effect last March, Metrobank was one of the first to extend meaningful assistance to their customers by constantly releasing advisories and tips on its website.
To keep inconvenience to a minimum, Metrobank encouraged its clients to use its digital platforms like the Metrobank Mobile app for checking balance, sending or remitting money to Metrobank accounts (InstaPay or PESONet for sending to other banks), and paying bills.
For business clients, they could use Metrobank Business Online Solutions (MBOS) for their billing and collection needs, salary management, and tax payments.
More importantly, Metrobank ensured that their automated teller machines (ATM) and cash accept machines (CAM) were operational for those who need to do cash and over-the-counter transactions. It was also one of the few banks to deploy Mobile ATMs around the National Capital Region during the ECQ to help clients attend to their banking needs without risking travelling too far from their respective homes.
And although we are now slowly transitioning into General Community Quarantine (GCQ), there are still a lot of people who cannot leave their homes and go to the nearest bank, due to various restrictions, that is why Metrobank decided to extend its Mobile ATM rollouts until the end of the June.
The mobile ATMs have proven to be one of the most meaningful solutions Metrobank has implemented to make banking safe, secure, and more convenient for its clients.
All Mobile ATM units are operational from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM every day except holidays and weekends. Social distancing and health precautions are strictly enforced.
All customers are required to wear facemasks and the Mobile ATM machines are regularly disinfected. Rubbing alcohol and cloth are also available for each client’s use.
