Tried, Tested, Trusted: A Day with Uratex That Shows Why It’s Still the Name We Count On

There are events you attend—and then there are experiences that stick with you. Uratex’s “Tried, Tested, Trusted” celebration was definitely the latter. As someone who has covered hundreds of launches and lifestyle showcases, I walked away from this one with a deeper appreciation for a brand I thought I already knew.

The event marked Uratex’s 17th consecutive Most Trusted Brand Award from Reader’s Digest—a milestone that speaks volumes. But instead of a glitzy affair, what we got was something more grounded: a full-day look into the inner workings of a Filipino brand that has quietly—and consistently—earned its place in our homes.

Behind the Brand: Touring the Plaridel Facility

Our day started in Plaridel, Bulacan, at Uratex’s flagship facility, which has been operational since 2000. It’s massive—about 450,000 square meters—but what stood out wasn’t just the size, it was the structure and order of operations.

From the foam block production area where everything begins, to the curing, cutting, and mattress assembly lines, it’s clear Uratex takes its manufacturing seriously. The recent addition of automated mattress lines in 2023 not only boosts efficiency but ensures consistency in how each product is put together. There’s no excess flash or gimmickry—just methodical, tech-supported processes designed to deliver quality at scale.

We also got to see the in-house product testing lab. This was one of my favorite parts: watching how each foam undergoes density checks, stress tests, and other evaluations. These aren’t just for show—these are the same tests aligned with ISO 9001:2015 standards. It was a reminder that a good mattress isn’t just about softness; it’s about performance over time.

A walk through the warehousing area capped off the tour. New racking systems and smart logistics zones support how the brand moves thousands of units across the country. No grandstanding here—just good, clean systems doing their job.

At the Core: Reliability in People and Process

What made the visit feel more personal was meeting the people behind the machines.

Over 500 employees run the show at the Plaridel plant, many of whom have been with the company for years. Their pride was subtle but unmistakable. You could tell this wasn’t just a day job—it was something they owned.

Throughout the tour, Uratex leaders emphasized lean manufacturing, automation, and real-time monitoring as keys to their success. But what stood out more was their consistency. There was no hard sell, just quiet confidence in systems that have worked—and evolved—over time.

An Evening of Gratitude and Reflection at RONAC Living Gallery

The second half of the event moved to RONAC Living Gallery in Mandaluyong, where the award celebration was held. The venue had a modern, artsy feel, but the program stayed true to Uratex’s tone: grounded and purposeful.

A fireside chat with CEO Mrs. Natividad Cheng and executive vice presidents Eddie Gallor and William Lee offered a glimpse into the leadership mindset. They spoke about keeping operations honest, leading by example, and why integrity remains central to the company’s DNA.

Managing Director Peachy Medina followed with a message on values, noting, “Trust is something we earn every night.” It was a line that stuck with me—not because it was catchy, but because it felt true. We often think of trust as a vague brand promise, but here, it was presented as something built through action, not just advertising.

Awards were also given to key partners like the Philippine Orthopaedic Association and the Philippine Society of Sleep Medicine. Their presence underscored Uratex’s broader mission to improve sleep health—not just sell mattresses.

Then came the formal awarding of the 17th Most Trusted Brand in the mattress category. It was heartfelt but humble. Mrs. Cheng’s acceptance speech summed it up well: “This award is a reminder that our work makes a difference—and that we must always stay worthy of the trust given to us.”

Uratex also shared that they’re working on a new distribution center—another step toward boosting efficiency and serving customers better. It’s not a radical reinvention, but that’s what I found refreshing. In a world where brands often chase the next viral moment, Uratex is sticking to what works: innovation that supports service, not just headlines.

Uratex’s “Tried, Tested, Trusted” wasn’t the flashiest event I’ve attended, but it was one of the more quietly impactful ones. It offered real insight into how a legacy brand keeps itself relevant—not by shouting the loudest, but by delivering on its promise, every single day.

Seventeen years as the most trusted brand in its category doesn’t happen by accident. And if what I saw is any indication, Uratex isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
