Ole! UNO de 50 invades Manila Fashion scene

Following the brands’ success in Europe, South America, the Middle East, and the US, renowned Spanish jewelry brand Uno de 50 finally decided to reach out to Southeast Asia and Manila was lucky enough to be chosen as the first site of its very first store in the region.

Much like the Spanish galleons that first landed in the country hundreds of years ago, the brand has brought a full arsenal of jewelry for men and women at its flagship store located at the 2nd floor of SM Aura.

Jose Luis Pardos, Uno de 50’s Expansion Director, admitted that Manila was not part of their expansion plans at first, but after getting to know the PH market more and after talks with SM, “We realized that the market is very alive, very vibrant. It is growing a lot.” he was quoted in an article from Rappler.com .

“Our success in the States can be interesting because we think the Filipino market is aligned with these consumers,” Pardos added.

Uno de 50 started out in Spain. Its CEO Jose Azulay began his career in his family’s watch company, but after acquiring the necessary skills and professional know-how, he decided to put up his own business. The brand has been known as a brand for “dynamic, cosmopolitan people who follow fashion trends.

FIFTY of A KIND

Uno de 50 was founded in the late 1990s by a group of creative artists who resolved to establish a brand of fashion jewellery and accessories that would break all existing moulds. Tradition and modernity came together to give birth to a new and different brand, with the spirit of craftsmanship as its constant feature, and reflecting its exclusivity through design and quality.

The brand started out with the philosophy of creating 50 units of each piece, thus giving rise to its name. Over time –and thanks to its rapid speed of success– production increased, but it continued to keep its name as a reminder that, like the very first day, the quality and the unique nature of each design are the brand’s number one priority. What’s more, today the company continues to fulfil its promise of exclusivity
through its Limited Editions of 50 units that it launches with each collection.

Today Uno de 50 has 51 of its own shops in Spain and over 25 abroad –in some of the world’s top fashion capitals such as New York, Miami, Las Vegas, Paris, Milan, Rome and Amsterdam.

Uno de 50’s pieces are created in Spain using entirely handcrafted methods, thanks to a unique process which covers everything from the initial design to the finished item.

In this collection, the tones of Ibiza, its blue waters, the flowers of the hippie movement or the island’s unique red soil come to life by splashing the designs with a multitude of colors. Every piece contains details that reflect Ibiza’s spirit. The resulting peace doves, metal fish shapes or ancient coins and runes give each design a unique personality.

Formentera’s wild and idyllic landscapes serve as inspiration for the purest line of the new “Jewels of the Mediterranean” collection.

The island’s peace and serenity have been transferred to each design through the materials and colors used. The turquoise sea can be found in the Murano and Swarovski crystals that reflect the transparency and color of the water that surrounds the most virgin Balearic island.
The brand has turned to its origins as well as the combination of metal and leather to create pieces with organic and natural shapes.
