SM Home Makati Reopens With a Fresh New Look for Every Kind of Homemaker–and homebuddy

Ever since I started construction on our house, I’ve noticed a funny change in my mall habits.

Before, my automatic SM stop was Toy Kingdom. I would check the shelves for the newest Marvel Legends, Transformers, Hot Wheels, Funko Pops, or whatever collectible was calling my name that week. These days, I still look at toys, of course, but I now find myself spending more time at SM Home.

Suddenly, kitchen tools matter. Bed linens matter. Storage boxes, bathroom pieces, laundry organizers, dinnerware, scent diffusers, coffee makers, and even the right hamper have become exciting in a very adult, very “may bahay na akong inaayos” kind of way. And my gallery is full of those photos.

That is why the reopening of the redesigned SM Home Makati flagship feels perfectly timed for anyone building, renovating, moving, upgrading, or simply trying to make their current space feel better.

SM Home officially opened the doors of its renewed SM Makati flagship on May 7, 2026, introducing a refreshed retail experience built around how Filipinos actually live at home. The store is the centerpiece of SM Home’s biggest brand transformation so far and serves as the most visible example of the brand’s new direction across its 78 branches nationwide.

The new SM Home Makati is organized into eight curated zones: Kitchen, Dining Room, Living Room, Bedroom, Bathroom, Storage Solutions, Laundry & Cleaning, and Gift Registry. Instead of walking through random rows of products, shoppers can now explore the store based on the rooms and needs they are shopping for.

That makes a big difference, especially for those who know they need “something for the house” but are still figuring out what exactly that means.

Need better plates for family dinners? Head to Dining Room. Looking for a better mattress or bedroom refresh? Go to Bedroom. Trying to bring order to all the clutter that mysteriously appears after moving in? Storage Solutions is probably where you should start. Setting up a first kitchen, upgrading your coffee corner, replacing old towels, or preparing a gift registry? There is now a clearer path for that.

“We are rebuilding SM Home, starting with Makati, because Filipinos deserve a home store that is built for real life. Rediscover SM Home is our invitation: come back, look again, and find what home can be,” said Janice T. Yang, Business Unit Head of SM Home.

The redesigned Makati flagship also brings in a stronger mix of home brands across different zones. Coffee lovers can check out Breville and Hario for espresso machines, filter brewers, and coffee essentials. Those who enjoy setting up the dining table can explore Don Bellini and Bonna for tableware made for everyday meals and special gatherings.

KitchenAid is also part of the renewed SM Home lineup for those who want serious kitchen tools at home, while Philippine Wine Merchants adds to the entertaining side of the experience. For the bedroom, Serta anchors the sleep category, while HiEssence offers upscale scent diffusers for those who want their rooms to feel more relaxing and personal.

The Living Room zone also features contemporary local art, giving shoppers a chance to add Filipino pieces to their homes. It is a nice touch because sometimes a living room does not need another generic wall accent. Sometimes it needs something with more character.

According to SM Home, the renewed store was designed for Filipino homemakers at every stage of life. That includes bachelors setting up their first kitchen, newlyweds choosing their first sofa, growing families refreshing their bedrooms, parents trying to make the dining room more inviting, and homeowners slowly building their dream space one purchase at a time.

“Filipinos have always known that home is more than a place. It is sanctuary. It is where family breathes, where life is organized, where comfort is made. What changes today is how seriously we commit to serving it — in everything we carry, in every store we build, in every choice we make as a brand,” Yang said.

The timing makes sense. Many Filipino families have become more intentional about their homes in recent years. With more time spent indoors, rising household costs, and bigger attention to comfort and function, people now think twice before buying things for the home. A good purchase has to be useful, durable, well-designed, and worth the space it takes.

That is where a store like the new SM Home Makati becomes helpful. It gives shoppers a more organized way to discover products instead of making them guess where to start.

For those building or furnishing a new house, it can serve as a checklist. For those refreshing one room, it can offer ideas. For those preparing for weddings, housewarmings, or milestone celebrations, the Gift Registry zone gives guests and couples another practical option.

SM Home says the Makati flagship is only the beginning of a wider national rollout. SM Home Aura and SM Home Megamall have already been renewed under the new framework, with more branches expected to follow throughout 2026 and beyond.

For now, the flagship experience is ready to welcome shoppers in Makati.

So yes, Toy Kingdom will always have a special place in my collector heart. But if you are building a home, moving into a condo, upgrading your kitchen, finally replacing those old towels, or looking for pieces that make daily life feel more put together, SM Home Makati might become your new favorite SM stop too.

Visit the newly reopened SM Home Makati and rediscover what your home can be.
