Shōgun, The Bear, Percy Jackson, Jonas Brothers & More Lead Its Biggest Year Yet
Disney+ just fired the opening shot for 2026 — and if today’s Disney+ Originals Preview at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort is any indication, streaming fans are about to eat really well.
The star-powered showcase featured global talent from the U.S., Korea, and Japan, but one moment stole the show: Hiroyuki Sanada, along with creators Rachel Kondo and Justin Marks, confirming that Shōgun Season 2 is officially gearing up. After its historic 18 Emmy wins in a single season, the series is returning with even more ambition.
And that was only the beginning.
“We have incredible assets at The Walt Disney Company — our legacy, our franchises, our global reach, and our relationship with fans,” said Eric Schrier, President of Disney Television Studios and Global Original Strategy. “On Disney+, we’re creating powerful, authentic stories that stand proudly alongside our biggest global hits.”
Disney also doubled down on its Asia Pacific commitment, unveiling a wave of fresh regional originals while assuring fans that APAC storytelling will continue to play a major role on the platform.
