Anne Curtis gets drunk, goes on a celebrity slapping spree

Like most writers in the entertainment industry, I could attest that Anne Curtis is one of the friendliest and nicest local celebrities, I’ve encountered.

Unfortunately, as one recent incident proved, too much alcohol can bring out the worst in any person.

According to an article from entertainment website PEP.PH, the Kapamilya actress was involved in an embarrassing situation after going on a “slapping” spree  hitting John Lloyd Cruz, Circuit Magazine editor JR Isaac, and Leah de Guzman last November 23, at a bar in Taguig.

In the Pep article Isaac said he was hanging out with friends Leah de Guzman, Charina Zarte, Nix Alano, Phoemela Barranda, Jake Cuenca, and John Lloyd Cruz at the Privé Luxury Club along with the bar’s co-owner JM Rodriguez.

Anne, meanwhile was hosting a bachelorette party for a friend at the same club.

Isaac and friends were on the club’s VIP section at the second floor, half of which had been cordoned off that night for a private party– which turned out to be the affair hosted by Anne for a girlfriend about to get married.

Isaac recalls they were near the VIP bar waiting for their drink when they heard someone shouting from behind.

“We heard a loud voice saying, ‘Who’s banging my door?’ We didn’t know who or where it was at first! Just loud, coming from behind us. When we turned around, we saw, stepping out of the toilet, Anne, very mad,” he said.

Anne suddenly slapped him on the face, then de Guzman and John Lloyd before calling the latter “an addict.”

“Then all of a sudden, pak-pak. My left cheek. Then Leah was also slapped. Then JL was also slapped.
“This all happened so fast. Anne was making so much noise, shouting at JL: ‘You are an addict!’
“Ang bilis, di ko na alam ang nangyayari. Basta wala akong narinig from JL, he behaved like a gentleman. Makikita mo talaga kung sino yung well-mannered pag may ganyan.”

After that Anne turned on Phoemela, and said, “You, what are you doing here?”

“Anne screamed, with finger pointing at Phoem the whole time, like she pointed it at JL. She had all this rage, she was agit [agitated].

“She was drunk but, di ba, when you’re drunk, you’re wobbly? She was not wobbly. She was strong, parang she could hurt us all!

“Anne screamed, with finger pointing at Phoem Barranda, saying, ‘I can buy you, your friends, and this club!’

That was the time the bouncers stepped in and separated Anne from the group.

Isaac says they were shocked and didn’t know how to retaliate.

“I was ushered away. I was trembling. They calmed me down.
“A lot of people saw the whole thing. I had never been slapped like that before. I didn’t know what to do.
“The management and [club] PR all came to our table and apologized to us. They saw the whole thing. They know we were the ones slapped.
“In the end, we stayed. We didn’t allow it to ruin our night.

A few minutes later Isaac said they saw Anne being escorted out.

Despite the scandalous incident Isaac says he has already forgiven Anne and harbors no ill feelings because he has known the actress since way back.

At about 4 p.m., the next day, Isaac says he got an apology text from Anne.

“JR! It’s Anne. Got your number from Monique! Tried messaging you on Facebook this morning. Just want to apologize for my behavior! I’m so so so sorry. I’m so ashamed (Frown Face) would never act like that in the right state of mind! I’m so sorry. Please forgive me!”

JR says he answered, also by text:

“Hi Anne, just woke up and read your text. Apology accepted… On a lighter note, you owe me a tight hug!!! Going back to sleep, nursing my hang over.”

The actress has also issued an apology to her fans on Twitter, last night December 1, to express her regret about the situation.

“Hey everyone. I will be making my official statement now & after this, I will not be giving any interviews about this issue anymore.
“I choose to do this right away because I’ve always been an open book & I don’t like to hide anything…
“For those who have read about the issue, yes, most of it is true.
“I admit to that & I have apologized to all parties included immediately…
“When I was told of my behavior AND the person who started all of this, due to this persons inappropriate behavior, apologized to me too…
“Just as I did. Which I accepted too. I choose not to go into detail because I’m not the type to ruin someone else’s name..
“Now.. I had been on the super popular juice cleanse for 3 days & attended my best friends bachelorette that night, had one too many drinks…
“…which led to some of these unfortunate events. That’s why they say ‘Drink in moderation’. I will charge it to experience & a lesson learned.
“I’m sorry if I let any of my fans down…. As you all see, I’m just like any other person that makes mistakes in life…
“Thank you to everyone that has messaged me about their support. With where I am today I owe all of you my honesty. Good night.”

As expected, the incident has quickly received a lot of comments from netizens.  There are those who said Anne should never endorse alcoholic drinks from now on; while some said it just showed the actress “true personality.” There are also suspected that the actress was “high” on something.

Will this incident have an effect on the image of Anne and her numerous endorsements?
