Clear Dream Match II slated on August 24
On its second year, the biggest football all-star game in the Philippines, the Clear Dream Match, returns with more football talent and a more intense rivalry between Phil and JamesYounghusband.
The Clear Stadium brings together the most iconic football players of the country, the best of the United Football League, the countries’ top collegiate football superstars, and celebrities come together to battle for clear supremacy—all in the name of football glory and charity.
But this year also brings one rather remarkable twist. With the best of Filipino football, comes for the first time ever, the addition of two football legends: Chelsea F.C.Legend, Dennis Wise, and 2006 FIFA World Cup champion, Fabio Cannavaro.

“We wanted to shake things up this year by bringing in two international football legends to compete with our country’s best,” says CLEAR Philippines Brand Manager, Drew Copuyoc.
This year CLEAR Philippines will donate a percentage of ticket sales to the Tuloysa Don Bosco Foundation, as well as Unilever Personal Care products for all children in the foundation.
International Football Legends
Both seasoned professionals, Wise and Cannavaro have garnered several individual and team accolades in their time. Cannavaro, a former Real Madrid player has won two La Liga titles, but perhaps his greatest achievement was captaining Italy to the FIFA World Cup victoryin 2006 and bagging the FIFA World Player of the Year award in the same year.
Wise on the other hand is one of the most successful players to captain Chelsea. During his time at Stamford Bridge, Wise won two FA Cups, a League Cup and a UEFA Cup Winners’ cup. The addition of Wise to the Clear Dream Match is actually a dream of sorts for James and Phil.
“When we were still training with Chelsea, we used to watch Wise play all the time. He is like a legend to us,” James says.
“During the 2006 FIFA World Cup, I was watching on T.V. and cheering with the rest of the world as Cannavaro led Italy to the championship,” Phil adds.
Join the Rivalry
Another significant addition to this year’s Clear Dream Match is the role of the fans. Copuyoc says, “The first draft pick will be dependent on the team with the most fan interactions on Facebook.”From the onset fans will get to join the rivalry by going to Facebook.com/ClearPH or by downloading the Clear Stadium app on the Play Store or the App Store. They can vote for their favorite football players, play interactive games and share their support for their favorite team to get more points.
And to show how confident Phil and James are, the most digitally active fan of the winning team will join the Younghusbands for a trip to Brazil in 2014.
Road to Clear Dream Match 2013
The road to the Dream Match begins with football fans voting for their favorite players into the Dream Teams. CLEAR has recruited a pool of 50 players which includes the likes of United Football League stars Anton Del Rosario, Simon Greatwich, and Carli De Murga among others; College stars like last year’s Clear Dream Match MVP, MikoMabanag (Ateneo), Brazilian models Daniel Matsunaga and Fabio Ide; the Boys Night Out trio, and other outstanding players in the local Football scene.
Who will be on Team James, who will be on Team Phil? What team will Cannavaro and Wise play on? Who will be this year’s Clear Dream Match champion?
