Worldbex 2015 partners with Wilcon Builders to highlight ASEAN Centric Designs

In celebration of its 20th year, the country’s leading events and exposition organizer, Worldbex Services International (WSI), furthers its reputation as a pillar of the construction industry with Obra Maestra 2015.

The 5th Obra Maestra is an intercollegiate interior design competition that seeks to nurture the community by discovering prodigies and young talents who may one day be the influential shapers of the dynamic industry.

In partnership with Wilcon Depot and in cooperation with the Council of Interior Design Educators (CIDE), this year’s OBRA MAESTRA banners the theme, ASEAN CENTRIC, the harmonious interplay between various cultures of the east and the modernization that drives its constant flux.

Slated to be held on March 11 to 15, at the Philippine Trade Training Center, the 5th Obra Maestra, showcases fresh new perspectives that exist among the minds of burgeoning interior designers and put the spotlighton a deserving and outstanding few.

“Obra Maestra gives students a true real-world experience and get their chance to see their designs come to life instead of just being on their plates,” explained WorldBex Services  International Marketing Director JR Ang.

The Obra Maestra Competition, launched today, January 28 at the Designo Atelier in Libis, Quezon City.

Led by Worldbex Services JR Ang and Wilcon’s SEVP, COO Rosemarie Ong, the program introduced this year’s theme as well as the participating schools that will be battling it out for the recognition.

“This year’s competition will be presenting the works of 12 academic institutions offering BS Interior Design courses, including the University of Sto. Tomas, SOFA Design Institute, St. Scholastica’s College, Philippine School interior Designers, University of the East, Mapua Institute of Technology, University of the Philippines, Eulogio Amang Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, College of the Holy S,  Philippine Women’s University and the College of St. Benilde, and we expect a more compelling and exciting than previous installments,” relates Ong who revealed this is the 5th year Wilcon has partnered with WorldBex.

In order to showcase a diverse range of presentations as well as to portray the dynamism of the participating students, each participating school was given a distinct theme to work with.

Among the themes that must be interpreted by the participants incluse a Cambodian Inspired Dining Room, Malaysian Styled Bedroom, Thai Themed Living Room, Philippine lndigenous Style Bathroom, Laos Inspired Bedroom, Brunei Look Living Room, Philippihe Colonial Designed Dining Room, Singaporean Themed Bathroom, Myanmar inspired Bedroom, Vietnamese Themed Living Room, Indonesian Dining Room, and a Muslim inspired Bathroom.OBRA MAESTRA 2015 FINAL POSTER

To be judged based on the criteria of interior design, planning, theme, furniture selection, and color scheme, three winners will be selected with each of its corresponding prizes. For the People’s Choice, the winners will receive P10,000 in cash. The result for this category will be based on an onsite (50%) and online voting (50%) until March 14, 12nn.

Meanwhile, the Runner Up will receive P40, 000 in cash and P10,000 in cash for the Department of the School, and a Obra Maestra trophy. For the Grand Winner, P60, 000 will be given to the students, P20, 000 will be awarded to the Department of the School, an Obra Maestra Trophy, and an internship grant to Wilcon Depot.

Not only will the competition serve as a platform to provide exposure to outstanding young designers, but it will also show visitors and trade goers how much interior design has evolved in the country — championing young talents as well as the future of the Philippine interior design community. Once more, WORLDBEX and Wilcon Depot solidifies its stature as an influential driver of growth and progress within the industry as it presents this year’s highly anticipated OBRA MAESTRA 2015.
