Smart Sur-"PRICES" from Samsung

Samsung Unveils the phone range Where the Price is Right!

Samsung Mobile’s Business Unit Director Eric Sulit welcomed the media guests

There are a couple of things I learned after attending The Right SurPRICE event yesterday: 1) Samsung really knows how to make a big event out of each new phone they launch and 2) Four pieces of Energizer AA batteries only cost P159 (and not P179 as i guessed).

It was a bit lengthy, hazy and in the end I smelled like BBQ, but it was one of the most fun events I attended recently.

Held at the spacious KPub BBQ restaurant at the Bonifacio Global City, where the crew was wearing what seemed to be a  Michael Jackson-inspired jackets (with studs and spikes) or  some KPOP fashion statement, Samsung unveiled its new midrange group of Galaxy phones with its version of the hit  game show The Price is Right.

DJ Sam YG of the Boys Night Out was his usual hilarious self and did a great hosting job– he also continued his streak of picking up my name during the raffle (it stands at four if I remember correctly).

Instead of instantly winning a prize, however, I had to compete with three other media contestants to guess the price of — yep four Energizer AA batteries.  I lost, but enjoyed watching the other contestants play. The four finalists eventually won a phone each after correctly guessing the right price of each one.

After the games, Samsung Product Marketing Group head Coco Domingo then introduced Samsung’s  fab four in value-for-money smartphones, which he called the Smart Choice Series. The four models  include the Samsung Galaxy S Duos, Galaxy Core, Galaxy Win, and Galaxy Grand.

Packed with advanced features, this budget friendly line is nothing short of what is expected from a smartphone. In fact, they are even loaded with a bigger surprise by being easy on the pocket.

“In this day and age, we believe everyone deserves to have a smartphone,” began Eric Sulit. “We at Samsung are always on the lookout to bring technology on the hands of as many Filipinos as possible, and these Samsung large-screen, dual-SIMsmartphones are our way of making that vision happen.”

The most affordable among the four is the Samsung Galaxy S Duos. It is packed with frequently used smartphone features and more. It runs on Android 4.1 Ice Cream Sandwich; has a built-in organizer, a photo and video editor, and document viewer; and also has a card slot for a microSD to expand its capacity up to 32GB. It also has a 5-megapixel rear camera and a VGA front camera.

Samsung Galaxy Core

The Samsung Galaxy Core, on the other hand, aside from its sleek design it allows people on the go to do multiple tasks seamlessly. This 4.3-inch handset has a 5-megapixel rear camera with an LED flash and a VGA front camera, an 8GB internal storage and a microSD slot, and a slew of other features such as Motion UI (Shake & Top to Bottom), Smart Stay, Smart Alert, Best Shot, and S Voice.

Galaxy Win

Everyone will surely find a winner in the Samsung Galaxy Win. In addition to its 1.2 GhZ Quad Core fast processor, Galaxy Win boasts a 4.7-inch screen, Motion UI (Shake & Turn to Mute) and SMART alert.

Galaxy Grand

Lastly, for those who want a big screen like the Note but does not need the S Pen, Domingo suggests the  Galaxy Grand– a 5-inch screen for ease in viewing and an impressive 8-megapixel rear camera complete with LED flash. It has a multi-window feature allowing users to multi-task with ease, and like the other three models, it’s great for users with two active SIM cards. The Galaxy Grand also has features such as the Smart Stay, Direct Call, S Voice, Pop-Up Play and All Share Play.

“By bringing the advantages of smartphones within easy reach, Samsung scores another winner in the smartphone industry. The Samsung Galaxy S Duos, Galaxy Core, Galaxy Win, and Galaxy Grand are surely the smart choices to meet the mobile communication demands of today’s dynamic generation,” Domingo said.

Head over to the nearest Samsung Store and try one or all of these four phones and choose the best one which fits your needs and budget!
