What if the lights in your life could do more than brighten a room? What if they could lift your mood, mimic the sun’s natural rhythm, or even help build a more sustainable world?

These questions took center stage at Signify’s “Light & Beyond” event at the Ascott Hotel in Makati—a curated showcase that brought together visionary designers, architects, and sustainability advocates under one roof.
Formerly Philips Lighting, Signify is now the world leader in lighting innovation. But this wasn’t your typical tech expo.

The brand invited guests to imagine how light could transform everyday spaces, improve well-being, and contribute to a more eco-conscious future—not someday, but today.
“At the heart of everything we do is a deep commitment to sustainable innovation,” said Raghuraman Chandrasekhar, Country Leader for Professional Business, Signify Philippines.

“We design solutions that not only light spaces beautifully but also respect our planet. And when we talk about the future, there’s no ignoring the power of connected lighting and ultra-efficiency, transforming how we manage energy, environments, and experiences. This is a journey we take together with our specifiers. They are not just partners; they are co-creators of the future.”
From smart systems that track motion and save power, to solar lights that bring visibility to off-grid areas, Signify showed how lighting is evolving from a necessity into a force for good.

Here’s what stood out:
Nature-Inspired Light That Syncs with You
Signify’s Nature Connect lighting system replicates natural daylight rhythms using Bioup Circadian Lighting technology. These lights adjust in tone and intensity throughout the day to mirror sunrise to sunset, creating indoor environments that promote better sleep, improved mood, and higher productivity—especially important in homes, offices, schools, and healthcare centers where people spend up to 90% of their time indoors.
3D-Printed Luminaires for a Circular World

The event also introduced 3D-printed luminaires made from bio-circular materials, part of Signify’s push toward a circular economy. These lighting fixtures can be reprinted, refurbished, reused, and recycled, making them both eco-conscious and cost-efficient—without compromising design.
Energy Efficiency at Its Brightest
The new Philips UltraEfficient LED range is designed to consume significantly less energy while delivering excellent brightness and longer product life. That translates to lower power bills and a lighter environmental footprint—a win for both homes and businesses.

Lighting That Thinks for Itself
Through the Interact Connected Lighting System, Signify showcased how lighting can be smarter.
For offices, the system collects usage data to enable space optimization and energy efficiency. Outdoors, the Interact Outdoor Multi Sensor offers “dusk till dawn” functionality and motion-triggered “light on demand,” reducing unnecessary energy consumption and streamlining maintenance.
Solar Lighting That Powers Hope
Signify’s solar lighting solutions are built for communities with limited or no access to electricity.

These zero-energy systems shine a light—literally—on a future where clean, renewable lighting can reach everyone, regardless of location.
Throughout the program, Signify emphasized one key point: innovation doesn’t happen in isolation. It’s the designers, engineers, and changemakers—the specifiers—who bring ideas to life.
“Everything we achieve, every solution, every milestone, is the result of close collaboration with specifiers,” Chandrasekhar added.

“Their insight drives us to innovate better, design smarter, and push the boundaries of what lighting can do.”

For Signify, light is more than a utility. It’s a language of care, collaboration, and creativity. And at “Light & Beyond,” the company proved that when guided by purpose, even something as everyday as a lightbulb can become a beacon for a better world.
