For those who’ve been watching to CNN since the typhoon Yolanda tragedy you might have noticed some volunteers wearing the trademark blue shirts or vests of tech company Samsung.
The Korean company has been part of the relief efforts with its president even participating in the repacking and distributing relief goods.
In a statement, the electronics company said; “Samsung has is deeply saddened by the devastation caused by Typhoon Haiyan and would like to extend its deepest sympathies to the people of the Philippines.”
“Samsung is pledging USD $1 million in cash aid to help with recovery andrebuilding efforts, via direct donations to the Philippine Red Cross, the ABS CBN Foundation and World Vision.”
In addition, Samsung Electronics Philippines (SEPCO) is dispatching employee volunteer groups to the disaster areas. The Samsung volunteers, comprised of service engineers and employees from various departments, will provide on-ground assistance for people in need.
