Relaxing with the “Bossing” Vic Sotto

Bossing CitiGlobal5For the past three decades, no other TV show has brought laughter to every Pinoy’s lunchbreak than Eat Bulaga.

The show started trends long before we needed hashtags; discovered talent and made new stars prior to all those reality shows; and  gave away millions of pesos without the need to line up for lotto tickets.

But did you know that the trio of Tito, Vic and Joey worked for free for six months during  the shows first year just to keep it on air?

Its a story Vic Sotto, proudly shared during a recent press event for his latest endorsement with real estate company CitiGlobal, which seeks to inspire OFWs to turn their savings into investment.

“I’m seeing familiar faces,” greeting everyone as he entered the venue joking, “Hindi ba to press con ng My Big Bossing? Tara kwentuhan na lang tayo.”

Continuing his story, Vic said they gave up their salaries in the beggining since they have yet to get regular advertisers.  “Mahirap nung una pero we believed in the show so much and with a lot of hardwork we were able to make it happen.”

Its been 30 years, yet Vic says they still treat each day as a new challenge and their passion has never wavered.

It is also this feiry passion that made Vic, whom everyone calls Bossing,  one of the most bankable endorsers in the country–from detergent soaps to household items.

Now, Vic takes on more than just an endorsement but an advocacy as he encourages OFWs to make investments out of their extra money.

For the first time Bossing has agreed to endorse a real estate company that promotes smart and affordable real estate investments.

The host-comedian explained that the reason he’s endorsing CitiGlobal, the name of the real estate company, is due to the fact that they complement each other in a sense that they both have a deep sense of purpose.

In this interview Vic shares one secret to success is to know how to relax and have a good time.  Besides Golf,  Vic says he enjoys taking out of town trips.

1. What do you usually do after a stressful day?
I’ve been in the entertainment industry for more than four decades. But for me, one thing that kept me going all these years is the fact that belong in a line of work that I truly love. What I am saying is if you love what you are doing, you can hardly feel stressed out with what you do. Pero kung mayroon mang bagay na nakakapag-stress out sa akin minsan, It’s more of my need to maintain a private life. I really value moments where I can be alone or be with my loved ones. So when I do need to take time out, I usually retreat and relax doing outdoor activities. Kaunting golf pag may time or kung kapos sa oras, kahit makapag-jogging /any to stay fit. Kung kapos ta/aga sa panahon, Masaya na ako na nasa bahay and just do nothing so I can clear my mind and recharge.

2. How often do you spend your “me time” or the art of doing nothing?
I make sure that once in a while even for a short a period of time that I have a “me time” kasi doon lang ako nakakapag—refresh ng isip ko. It is with these private moments where I can really relax.

3. For you, what’s the importance of having a “me time”?
For me, having a “me time” is the ultimate way of rewarding yourself. I have never been a materialistic person. Pero ang “me time” yan ang tanging bagay na pinapahalagahan ko. I am a believer in the saying that we all have to stop and smell the flowers. Kapag nagkaroon ka nang “me time,” hindi ibig sabihin noon na tamad ka, it only means you have worked so hard and the need to relax is your body’s way of telling you that it’s time to reap the fruits of your labor. And relaxing has its own set of benefits. When your mind is idle, it starts to wander and explore new ideas. Ang totoo sa mga panahon na nagre—reIax doon ako nakaka—isip ng mga patok na gimik para sa show. Ganyan nabuo yung initial concepts ng One for All, Laban 0 Bawi, at PinoyHenyo.

4. In your opinion, how important is it to have investments after all the hard work that you’ve done? I am very partial for our OFWs. I hope more efforts are placed on teaching them how to invest and notjust save money. This is my personal advocacy and I am just happy that CitiGloba| has a way to help OFWs invest through leisure properties. Maganda kasing investment ang mga rest house at condotel. For example, with Citig|obal’s affordable properties, OFWs can own a condotel for P1.3 million or kung instalment, around P7,000 a month. Kapag nagawa na yung property, the OFW has the option to use it for vacation or authorize CitiG|oba|’s property manager to lease it. For a small investment in real estate, they can earn up to P35,000 a month through leasing.

At dahil property ito, wala silang kaba na mawawala ang investment nila kasi kung kailangan talaga, they can easily sell it for a good profitable price.

5. For you, how can we empower our modern day heroes, the OFWs? We can empower our modern heroes, the OFWs, by educating them on the proper way of using the fruits of their labor. Hindi puro bili ng Iuho 0 pure ipon /ang. We have to reward their efforts by giving them a chance to live the good life, We can only do this if we teach them how to make their money work for them, because all their lives, they have been working so hard for money.
