The first time Oishi’s PR team sent out those ref-sized carton-o-goodies to the Manila Times office, I think was on leave and only got to “experience” it through a couple of pictures and a few donated packs of Oishi prawn crackers, and as much as I hate to admit it, it was one of those times I really felt quite cheated.
You see I’ve been been an Oishi boy since I first saw those P1 peso packs of Kirei Yummy Flakes and Prawn Crackers in school. And while my friends were buying a couple of packs, I would buy the entire “Supot” –which had, I think, 10 to 20 pieces– and would consume it in one sitting. It was fairly easy as one pack was just one mouthful for me.
Now as an adult, I probably spend P500 (or more) whenever I’m in the grocery to get my stash of Oishi products– from prawn crackers, potato fries, pop corn, pillows, bread pan and my two new faves—baked porky pops (which I eat with rice), and Wafu (for dessert). I also have a box of Smart C+ on reserve as it has been my favorite drink.
So you see, every time I see people post about their giant Oishi lootbags, I felt kinda cheated, because I knew I deserved those more– because I am the one who actually keeps buying and eating their stuff!
I was eating and giving away Oishi inside the jeep long before Ramon Bautista and Slater Young did it in Manila, knew more about Oishi “wraps” than Elmo and could probably snack on Daniel Padilla’s weight in Porky Pops, which should make me waaaayyy #morebadboy.
Last Saturday, I was invited to an Oishi Fun day event, unfortunately, I had deadlines and had to miss it. So I asked Lou to represent me, hoping she could bring me some Oishi stuff.
Had I known it was gonna be a Raid Oishi Day, I would have dropped everything and headed off to Bonifacio Global City, just like some who brought their entire families to help them fill their “goodie sacks.”
Lou did bring me home a very respectable amount of Oishi products (too few porky pops!)— but I think she what really wanted to bring home Daniel Padilla himself. (UPDATE Its been almost a week and she still gushes about how good he smelled …)
2014 marks the 40th year since Oishi Prawn Crackers and Kirei were first introduced in 1974, and the brand promises it will be nothing short of O, Wow!
Team O, whose mission is to surprise people and create O, Wow! Moments, promises to outdo itself for 2014.
Following the successful launch of Oishi’s Team O in 2012, 2013 was a year of fun and laughs as Team O created yet another surprise around the university belt of Luneta. Team O: Jeep O featured Ramon Bautista, Slater Young and Elmo Magalona disguising themselves as regular passengers. With a jeep decked out with hidden cameras, Oishi was able to capture the expressions of shock and delight on the passengers faces as they were surprised by Team O
2013 also welcomed Oishi’s Marty’s endorser and the newest addition to the Team O line up, the #medybadboy himself, Daniel Padilla. Daniel had his very own O, Wow! Surprise at Culiat High School, in Tandang Sora, Quezon City. 50 Daniel Padilla clones spread throughout the covered courts of Culiat High School and the students were thrilled with the challenge of identifying him! At the end of the day, the students left happy and overwhelmed with the excitements of the day.
Team O invites you to be part of the team by submit your own ideas on what should be the big surprise this 2014 The chosen idea will be executed by Team O together with the winning mastermind in capping off the brand’s 40th year.
