3M Cogent, a maker of biometric identification systems, wowed representatives of local government units, law enforcement agencies, corporate banks, commercial enterprises, and local universities as it introduced innovative products that promote public safety.
The event entitled “Unlocking the Innovations in Security Systems” was held at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel on July 2, 2013.
Demonstrations of how 3M Cogent products work to speed up identification and apprehension of persons of interest, authentication of passports and identification papers as well as a sneak peek into the latest biometrics technologies got strong approval from the participants.
Highlighted at the event were
3M products such as biometric systems using finger, palm, face, and iris;, identification and authentication solutions for border control and management, document manufacturing, and issuance systems for IDs, passports and visas; document readers and verification products; and security materials, such as laminates to protect against counterfeiting and tampering.
Teresa Wu, 3M Cogent Global Portfolio Marketing Director, stressed the use and benefits of mobile biometric identification. She said improved safety and security in an office or organization saves time, improves company reputation, prevents crime, assures public safety and enhances operations leading to greater efficiency.

3M completed its acquisition of Cogent Inc. on December 2010 and strengthened 3M’s security credentials and authentication of product portfolio and service offering.
