THE Philippines again sets its sights on conquering one of the most prestigious international gaming competitions—the Ragnarok World Championships.
A new team has been crowned last weeked during the RWC Philippine Leg Finals held at the SM North Edsa Skydome and after months of intense competition, they have proven themselves worthy to represent the country.
The team of Bernabe Orbeso, Marion Louise Carlos, Ron Aldwin Silvestre, Cris Elmar Barroquiña, Von Ryan Castillo, Lorenzo Canlas and Mark Edizon Clemente, collectively known as Team Naked Nanaman, bested seven other finalists from all over the country to become this year’s champs. They faced stiff competition as former RWC Philippine Leg champions—Team Suspects and Team Naked Babies—were among those vying for the top prize.
The final match came down to Team Naked Nanaman and Team Suspects. It was a back and forth battle as both teams tried to finish each other off in the best-of-five final match. In the end, Naked Nanaman defeated Team Suspects 3-2 to win the P120,000 cash prize and the title of Team Philippines.
Naked Nanaman will head to Seoul, South Korea on October where they will attempt to do what no other Philippine team has accomplished: bring home the coveted Ragnarok World Championship crown.
“We’re very confident about our chances right now,” says Team Captain Ron Silvestre. “After all that we’ve been through, we’re confident we will win this thing. We just need to stay focused. We’re thirsty for victory, so we hope you guys support us till the end. We won’t let you down.”
