My “Flawless” Facial Experience

The last time I had a facial was July 3, 2012 6:37 p.m.

I will never forget that date because I got sick shortly after the treatment and couldn’t accompany my friend to the airport the next day.

It was also the day when I got this “zit” on right the side of my nose which looked like an acne lesion, and for next two years would heal, crack, and heal again but would never really go away.

Yeah, I know it sounds strange, but I never did anything after that laser something with vitamin-C-mask- kinda-facial from that facial clinic at SM North Edsa, (disclaimer: I paid for that treatment)

Since then I never got a facial again for the next two years. It was a good thing that I wasn’t like other men who seemed to have daycare centers for pimples, whiteheads and blackheads.

It was only through the persuasive powers of OrangeMagazineTV’s Jeman Villanueva, who had been  inviting me for months  that I agreed to accompany him to Flawless Facial Center.

So after meeting Matteo Guidicelli up close for his Mentos endorsement in the morning, attending a “breastfeeding” press conference in the afternoon, and going to Gramercy 71 for the Samsung/PLDT early evening, I finally decided to go with him to the Flawless Facial Center Megamall.

Best decision I’ve made recently.

Again I recounted my story to my Aesthetician who asked about my “zit,” and called the Dermatologist on duty (sorry I forgot to write down their names 🙂 ).

It was a good thing as the other facial centers I visited sometimes didn’t have any doctors on duty you could consult.

She looked at it a bit and suggested that I get the Classic Facial with antiseptic mask instead of the Real Gentleman Advanced Facial which I originally wanted. She also gave me a free consultation saying I had sensitive skin and was having atopic dermatitis.

She explained it could be caused by pollution, weather changes, or some allergens, such as dust mites, pollen, molds or harsh soaps or detergents. (Hindi nga ako maarte, pero ang skin ko naman choosy pala). So I guess, I’m sticking to Physiogel products from now on 😀

Another cause, which I immediately believed, was stress—as emotions such as frustration, embarrassment or panic often led to itching and scratching.
She said Flawless’ most popular skincare treatments are the Basic Facials which help rid the face of impurities and help improve the skin’s over overall appearance.
Procedures that fall under this category involves cleansing, steaming, massaging, extraction of black and whiteheads and acne lesions, and applying of various facial masks.

Since they wanted to keep it safe as it was my first time at Flawless, I agreed on just getting the Classic Facial.

The classic facial was designed to clarify and refine your skin by relaxing facial nerves and muscles, improving blood circulation and removing impurities.
Comparing it to my previous facial treatments, I’d say it was one of the most relaxing I’ve had, although Ms. Aesthetician seems to have a grudge against white heads and was very thorough with her pricking.
The treatment began with her letting me smell some fragrance to help me relax, which she jokingly called “gayuma” to make me come back. Then she applied a cleanser before attacking my white/blackheads, made me feel like siopao with the steamer and lastly applied the antiseptic mask.
It felt good and I felt as if an entire layer of skin on my face was removed. Sorry I couldn’t post any photos as my phones were both dead that time 🙁

I’ve since checked out the other treatments they have available and here’s what I found:
For those who have acne: you could try their Acne control facial which targets acne-causing bacteria. It also finishes with an Antiseptic Mask with antibacterial and healing properties that work simultaneously to diminish and prevent acne.
