Thank goodness for the return of glitz and glamour. After weeks of politics and politicians hogging the limelight, real entertainment reigned once again–coming straight from Hollywood!
Award-winning actress and global fashion icon—Sarah Jessica Parker and her Manolo Blahniks finally touched Philippine soil, SJP, as Parker has been nicknamed by the international press, was the guest of honor at the opening of the uber high-end SM Aura Premier at The Fort Bonifacio Global City, while concurrently launched as the new face of The SM Store.
While Fast & Furious 6 stars Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Luke Evans and Gina Carano parked their pimped up rides at the SM Mall of Asia to attend the Asian Red Carpet Premiere of the movie.
As the Philippines continues to capture Hollywood’s interest, the event was the very first time Manila played host to foreign press from Asia and other cities outside of the region to promote a major Hollywood movie.
Aside from the cast, producer Neal H. Moritz, and director Justin Lin also came to the Philippines to be part of this exciting movie event.
During the two‐day event, select journalists had the chance to conduct one‐on‐one interviews with the cast and director culminating in the said star‐studded premiere of Fast & Furious 6 at the SM Mall of Asia on May 15, 2013.
Manila was part of a world tour that included stops in other global cities including London, Seoul, and Cabo San Lucas. This bit of good news comes on the heels of Manila receiving global exposure in 2012 as one of the main location backdrops for the Hollywood action‐thriller The Bourne Legacy.
Despite the almost 3-hour wait for the cast in the sweltering summer heat, fans were rewarded by the equally hot reception of the cast as they gamely posed for cameras and signed autographs. Luke Evans even belted out a few lines of Kailangan Kita, later admitting that some of his closest friends are Filipinos, while Vin Diesel repeatedly shouted MAHAL KO KAYO! Vin even used his photo riding a jeepney as the cover photo for his Facebook account and proudly told even the foreign press how Incredible the Philippines was. Vin, whose sister-in-law is Filipina also said he wants to bring his children as well as his nephews and nieces to the country for a vacation.
After the red carpet press event, Vin Diesel and the rest of the cast surprised audiences at the Centerstage Cinema, to again thank their fans for their support. The premiere screening at the Centerstage Cinema was sponsored by GBX Philippines.
Fast & Furious 6 continues in the tradition of thrilling fast‐paced car chases, action, and suspense that has made the movie franchise a worldwide sensation. Reuniting for their most high‐stakes adventure yet, fan favorites Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Sung Kang, John Ortiz, Gal Gadot, and Elsa Pataky are joined by badass series newcomers Luke Evans and Gina Carano.
