Kim Chiu and Xian Lim Purely for Reel?

He describes her as every guy’s dream girl and calls her his “inspiration.”

She, on the other hand, thanked him for his sincerity and for always being there for her.

They both admit to being happy, grateful and content about being together most of the time—convincingly enough to earn them the votes and recognition as Yahoo OMG! Love Team of the year for the second straight year.

But when asked about the real status of their relationship, Kim Chiu or Xian Lim always end up giving a very “showbiz” answer that often ends with a lot of giggling.

At the recent press conference of their first movie team up, Bakit Hindi Ka Crush ng Crush Mo?, however, it seemed the young actress has heard enough of the question.

“Huwag na nating gawing big deal kung kami o hindi . . . kasi sabihin man namin na kami or hindi, wala rin namang mangyayari at wala rin namang mawawala sa inyo,” Kim began her explanation.

“Hindi na importante ‘yong label as long as may shows naman kami, napapanood naman kami, at napapasaya namin ang mga tao. Hindi na importante ‘yong, ‘Ah, sila’ o ‘Ah, hindi sila,’” she added to the surprise of several entertainment writers.

“Hindi rin namin minamadali ang mga bagay-bagay. Katulad ko, ang daming mga nangyayari sa buhay ko. Ako, pinaghahan-daan ko yung mga nangyayari sa akin,” she also stated.

Kim was referring to the recent passing of her mother Louella, due to aneurysm last June 23.

The two was first paired in the TV series My Binondo Girl, shortly followed by Ina, Kapatid, Anak, which further established their love team.

Xian explained, “For the past two years, since Binondo Girl, halos every day kaming nagkikita. Kahit sa mga trabaho namin, e, talagang from the start, mas lalo naming nakikilala ang isa’t isa.”
He added, “Si Kim talaga, para sa akin, is every guy’s dream girl.”

Based on the best-selling book Bakit Hindi Ka Crush Ng Crush Mo? by the self-proclaimed Internet action star Ramon Bautista, the movie is part of the year-long 20th anniversary celebration of Star Cinema. It also continues Star Cinema’s tradition of doing movies based on books, such as Dekada 70 and Bata-bata Paano ka Ginawa?

Under the story and screenplay of Irene Villamor, the self-help comedy tells the story of brainy “ugly duckling” Sandy Veloso (Kim) and her rich boss Alex Prieto (Xian).

“Sandy is a 24-year-old virgin na makulit at masipag sa trabaho, sa sobrang sipag niya, ‘employee of the month’ siya from January to December. Ang taas ng confidence niya pero hindi niya alam na sa paningin ng ibang tao pangit pala siya.”

In the middle of her plan to move on after a throbbing break-up with her boyfriend, Sandy’s life will turn around when she meets her new boss.

“Dahil siya ang pinakamagaling na empleyado, susuyuin ko si Sandy para tulungan akong ayusin ang problema ng nalulugi naming recording business,” narrated Xian. “Being a guy who gets what he wants, its interesting to discover kung paano mapapapayag ni Alex na tulungan siya ni Sandy, who is still suffering from a heartbreak.”

Ramon Bautista, who is also part of the cast, says he hopes the movie will help more people understand the complexities of love and how to accept rejection. “Katulad ng naisulat ko sa libro, hindi naman end of the world kapag na-reject ka. There is more to life than love at kung na reject ka meron namang iba dyan na magkakagusto sa iyo. Kasama ang sakit sa pag-ibig at kung hindi mo naramdaman yung rejection at yung sakit, parang hindi mo na-experience yung buo or kumpletong emotion ng pag-ibig.”

So are Kim and Xian really in love or are they just giving their fans what they want? Or maybe one of them is truly wondering Bakit Hindi Ka Crush ng Crush Mo?

The movie opens on July 31 in cinemas nationwide.
