JOBY LINSANGAN-MORENO; Turning Orange into the color of Hope

As we approach another Easter season, it’s hard not to reflect on the lessons from the past couple of years. The global health pandemic has disrupted our lives in unimaginable ways, forcing us to confront our vulnerabilities and adapt to a rapidly changing world. Yet, despite the challenges and uncertainties, there is hope to be found in this season of rebirth and renewal. Like the story of Easter, which reminds us of the possibility of new beginnings and triumph over adversity, the lessons from the pandemic have shown us the power of resilience, compassion, and community.
For beautypreneur Joby Linsangan-Moreno, one thing she’s learned is that life is truly fragile and short. “The best things in life are not things, and they are free; that you should always live the day as if it were your last and that everything is temporary; only God is eternal, so we fix our eyes on Him.”

That’s why as she celebrates her birthday today, Black Saturday, the “Orange Lady,” as she’s fondly called, says she will be spending more time with her family and the people she loves and ticking off one destination on her bucket list—Paris.
And since Easter is a day of spreading hope she promised to further her mission of helping others through her beauty business.
“I have been blessed with everything that I have prayed for and hoped for, so this year, I am just truly thankful to God for being our Fortress, our Refuge and our Hope. He has been our light during the darkest and saddest time in our lives when our dad was called to heaven.”

“I pray that He guides me as I fulfill my life’s mission found in Matthew 5:16 “Make your light shine so that others may see your good works and glorify Your Father in Heaven.” I have always believed the Lord has called me for that specific mission, and as to how I will reflect His Light, I will let Him lead me, surrendering joyfully and confidently to His Will.
ORANGE THE COLOR OF HOPE
Since she first opened the doors of Orange Blush Salon almost 20 years ago, Joby said she felt her mission had always been to serve others. Joby has been involved with various CSR (corporate social responsibility) activities nationwide since she began her salon business.

In 2020, she established the Parlorista At Barbero Kami (PAK) Foundation with the objective of improving and safeguarding the lives and welfare of hairdressers, aestheticians, massage therapists, nail technicians, salon receptionists, barbers and their families.

“We plan to continue with our mission of Spreading Love one free haircut at a time. We also plan to hold livelihood programs like Hairdressing workshop to equip our learners with haircutting, haircoloring skills that could be an extra source of income.”
They’ve also partnered with several groups and businesses like Aliaga Rice Supply to give out rice during their activities.

She is also generous when it comes to sharing her knowledge that is why she launched her first e-book titled Beauty and the Biz on Amazon. For those interested in putting up a wellness business, the bookazine (published by ABS-CBN Books) has been praised as “the best stress-free guide you can read from cover to cover.” The book also contains exclusive tips from Joby’s The 10 Commandments of the Orange Lady: Thoughts on Living a Joyful and Balanced Personal-Business Life.
BEAUTY AND HER BIZ
This year, Joby said she wants to help more aspiring entrepreneurs start their dream business by making the Orange Blush and Lemon Rebond franchise packages more accessible.

Before 2003, Joby had absolutely no idea that she would end up owning one of the fastest growing chain of salons in Nueva Ecija. Instead of pursuing a promising career as Medical Technologist or doctor, fate led her to launching a new business concept in the salon industry. Being exposed to the beauty industry “make-ups, hairstyles and fashion” during her student days both as a model and beauty title holder, she realized that all the salons in their province offered services that were either too pricey, or too cheap.
Joby decided to offer something that was more affordable without sacrificing quality and good service.

Orange Blush Salon was her answer. True to her ideas and inspiration, she opened the very first branch of Orange Blush Salon on October 2003, armed with just an initial capital of P30,000.
The salon was easily distinguishable by its very colorful and well-lit interiors. “Like my favorite color orange, I want Orange salon to exude vibrance and dynamism through our interiors.” She said the inviting interior easily attracted customers and immediately makes them feel comfortable. But it was their prices that kept them coming back.

Unsurprisingly, Orange is an instant favorite among the clients. The salon’s reputation steadily grew in and the salon has since expanded from Nueva Ecija and nearby provinces to Metro Manila and other key cities in the country.
“My business philosophy is simple: make your customer feel special, but always at an affordable price. Everything has to be sulit“, Joby shares.

“Over the years, we have learned that a franchise system only works when both the franchisee and franchisor trust each other fully. The Php80k franchise free (renewable yearly for 5 years) is actually just a fraction of the original franchise fee cost. We want our franchise system to be flexible, relatable. And we have a short franchise contract this time at one year (renewable) so that both parties can try and test the franchise system and together, plan for the future of the brand,” she explained.

Another project she’s been busy with is their new PEACH Hair essentials.
Peach Hair essentials is the FIRST HAIR REJUVEANTING SET in the Philippines. “If we have rejuve sets for the face, skin, it’s now time to also focus on our crowning glory- our Hair. Peach is a 3-step daily routine that keeps salon treated hair soft, healthy and truly manageable. No more ngarag hair days with Peach Hair Rejuvenating System.”

GRATEFUL FOR NEW BEGINNINGS
As we approach Easter season, it’s a reminder that amidst the pandemic’s uncertainties and challenges, there’s still hope for new beginnings and triumph over adversity.

The story of Joby-Linsangan Moreno and her Orange Blush journey shows us that anything is possible with hard work, determination, and a heart for service. As she turns a year older, Joby says she feels blessed and grateful for her family and her salon business, motivating her to continue her mission through her business and advocacies.
Her commitment to serving others is a true example of how resilience, compassion, and community can help us rise above any challenge.
