The Hotel Sales and Marketing Association today announced the launch of the 8th Virtus Awards at the newly opened Kingsford Hotel Manila.
Department of Trade and Industry-Trade and Investments Promotion Group (DTI-TIPG) Assistant Secretary Rosvi C. Gaetos delivered the keynote speech during the launch and the General Membership Meeting.
Fresh from the Philippine participation in Dubai Expo 2020, Assistant Secretary Gaetos shared developments and outstanding exhibits she witnessed in the pavilions of global participants and offer opportunities and ideas which hotels can draw inspiration from.
Asec Gaetos, also recounted the challenges of joining the Dubai Expo facing the challenges not only brought about by the pandemic but also manpower, logistics and even natural disasters.
Banking on the unwavering optimism it upheld during the worst of the pandemic, the hospitality industry is ready to recast its stamina and innovation it applied in the past two years to leap into the easing of travel restrictions in 2022.
With the theme “Breakthrough 2022,” this year’s awards will highlight the endeavors of hotel sales and marketing professionals to be released from the stringent rules dictated by the global plight.
“It’s time to snap out of the shackles of the” safe only” discipline of the past years and focus on better, livelier options that hotels and resorts can offer to families, gatherings for leisure and business,” Rose Libongco, Virtus Awards Chair, said. “HSMA will release the tension and tedious controls to serve new schemes, delights in pursuing fun, fantasy and new hopes to allow us to dream again,” she adds.
The April 28 event will also be the General Membership Meeting of the association as well as the media launch of the 8th Virtus Awards. True to the “Breakthrough 2022” theme, the meeting will be face-to-face, a first for HSMA in over two years.
The Virtus Awards was started by HSMA in 2015. The deadline for submission of entries to the 8th Virtus Awards is on August 31. Winners will be announced during a live ceremony on October 25. The Virtus Awards is organized by HSMA with the support of the Department of Tourism, Tourism Promotions Board Philippines, and Atlantis; with the special participation of Bambunet and Kingsford Hotel Manila.
