After conquering the hearts–and palates of viewers all over Asia, Anton Amoncio, the Asian Food Hero for 2016 finally gets to showcase more of his delightful and mouthwatering creations in his very own cooking show!
Home Cooked Asia: Philippines premieres tomorrow, December 29, Thursday 9 am on the Asian Food Channel and will feature Chef Anton cooking traditional Filipino recipes that will serve as introductory gustatory journey for everyone who wants to know about Filipino food.
The premiere episode will feature two, 30-minute back-to-back episodes which will showcase Anton’s passionate cooking of some of the sumptuous dishes he grew up with and learned from his grandmother’s kitchen.
Afterall, it was his grandmother’s heirloom recipe’s Tinola and Fried Chicken Adobo sa Gata that helped him reach the Finals of Food Hero, while his Cheesy Lamb Rack Kaldereta bested other finalists from the South East Asian region.
“Winning the Food Hero competition was big already. But having your own show is short of miraculous. This show serves as a window to my soul and I thank everyone who helped me along the way,” he shared during a short talk with the press.
He adds, “I hope my bit of Home Cooked creates awareness of what Filipino food is about. I want people outside the Philippines to ask questions about the way we cook and the passion we have for it.”
He added, “For Filipinos I made sure to make the dishes easy-to-make and accessible so they can try doing it themselves.”
Asked to name his favorite Filipino dishes, he quickly named three: adobo, tinola, and kare-kare. His grandmother used to give him Tinola when he’s feeling sick while he finds Kare-Kare best for festivities. Adobo is a no-brainer.
“For me Filipino food is the next big thing and I hope the show will be appreciated by people everywhere,” he added.
2016 has been a great year for Anton, who is now being called the Chef for the Millennials, because of his interesting twists to some of the most popular Filipino and Asian dishes such as Tinola with watermelon and Chocolate Binagoongan–which he used to showcase at his own restaurant “Antojos.”
Besides his own cooking show, Chef Anton has also signed a deal with “FRESH OPTIONS Meatshop” which will include several of his creations in their Chef Series Signature Recipes (Ready to Heat) line.
Among his dishes are the Aromatic Beef Rendang and Chicken Teriyaki with Chocolate sauce– both of which have been meticulously prepared by Fresh Options carefully sourcing out the ingredients to guarantee that you can enjoy the dish just as Chef Anton would have prepared it.
The Fresh Options Chef Signature Series also features the dishes of Chef Nancy Lumen, Chef JP Anglo, and Myk Tatung and are available in selected Fresh Options retail stores.
