Basketball before brunch? For Filipino NBA fans, that’s an easy yes—especially when the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers are on the schedule.
No LeBron? No problem for Luka and company as the Lakers demolished the Warriors for their largest opening win since 1972–127 to 105.
And we were at Dave and Buster’s for the live watch party to celebrate the launch of ESPN on Disney+ bringing local fans together to welcome the 2026–27 NBA season.
The gathering formed part of Disney+ Philippines’ Super Sports Week, running from October 19 to 25.
Under the campaign “Ito ang Homecourt Mo!”, ESPN on Disney+ brings live sports, on-demand replays, studio shows, documentaries and original programming into a dedicated hub within the streaming app. For basketball fans, that means more reasons to open Disney+ between movie nights and series binges.
A new homecourt for NBA viewing
The Warriors–Lakers matchup helped set the mood for the season, but the basketball lineup stretches well beyond opening week.
Disney+ will stream select games throughout the 2026–27 NBA season. Its Philippine schedule includes Cleveland against Philadelphia and Denver against Oklahoma City on October 23, giving fans more opening-week action to follow after the watch party.
The release also confirms coverage of all NBA Christmas Day games, including San Antonio against New York and Philadelphia against the Lakers. For viewers here, the time difference puts that basketball marathon on December 26, with games beginning at 1 a.m. Philippine time. Something to keep in mind before making those post-Christmas plans.
Know which playoff games are live
ESPN on Disney+ will also carry playoff action, with games from the First Round through the Conference Semifinals and Conference Finals.
There is one distinction subscribers should know before planning their viewing parties: the Western Conference Finals will stream live, while the Eastern Conference Finals and NBA Finals will be available on a same-day delayed basis, according to Disney’s Philippine NBA page.
That detail matters when avoiding spoilers becomes almost as demanding as following the game itself.
More basketball after the final buzzer
The NBA lineup also includes NBA Tip-Off, Inside the NBA, NBA Countdown, NBA Today and NBA Action, giving fans more analysis, interviews and basketball conversation between games.
For those who follow the personalities as closely as the players, Inside the NBA brings Shaquille O’Neal, Ernie Johnson, Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley into the viewing rotation. Disney says NBA content is available to Philippine subscribers on both Basic and Premium plans, with access subject to profile settings and unavailable on Kids profiles.
To find the sports lineup, download the new Disney+ app and head to the ESPN navigation tab. Live events, replays and other ESPN programming sit together in the dedicated hub.
Pick your team, check the schedule and get the group chat ready. Basketball mornings are back.
