Flower festivals around the world have long captivated audiences with their stunning floral displays and intricate designs. For instance, the Chelsea Flower Show in London, a staple since 1913, showcases the finest in horticulture and attracts visitors from around the globe with its elaborate gardens and cutting-edge designs. Similarly, the Rose Parade in Pasadena, California, held annually on New Year’s Day since 1890, features breathtaking floats adorned with millions of flowers, creating a visual spectacle that celebrates the beauty of nature. Another notable event is the Keukenhof Tulip Festival in the Netherlands, where over seven million tulips bloom across 79 acres, drawing tourists to witness the vibrant tapestry of colors.

Calling all Plantitos, Plantitas and Blooms (and not just the BINI fans)!
Now, the Philippines is poised to join this illustrious list with the inaugural Philippine International Flower Festival (PHILIFF), titled “Bountiful Blooms.” This exciting event will transform Makati City into a vibrant floral wonderland from September 19 to 22, 2024, at the SPACE at One Ayala. Whether you’re a gardening enthusiast or simply love the beauty of flowers, PHILIFF is an event you won’t want to miss.

PHILIFF is not just about grand flower displays; it’s an immersive experience that brings together floral designing, garden landscaping, and exhibits on Ikebana, Bonsai, and orchids. Attendees can marvel at stunning displays and participate in a trade show featuring the latest in floriculture and horticulture technology. The festival will also feature a unique floral fashion show curated by the renowned Filipino-Chinese event organizer, Jerry Sibal, with contributions from international artists.

Jerry Sibal, based in New York City, is the creative force behind PHILIFF. Known for his work as an event organizer and author of the coffee table book “An Event to Remember,” Sibal’s vision for the festival is both educational and inspirational. He aims to bring dignity to Filipino farmers and highlight the Philippines as a major producer of flowers in the Asia-Pacific region. “I want to educate everybody, including me. At the same time, I want to preserve our nature… I’m doing this not for myself but for all Filipinos,” Sibal shared during the festival’s launch. His dedication to education and environmental preservation is the driving force behind this event.

One of PHILIFF’s primary goals is to support and uplift Filipino farmers and horticulturists. By promoting the Philippines as a major producer of flowers in the Asia-Pacific region, the festival aims to create sustainable livelihoods and provide educational opportunities for farmers. Sibal believes that through unity and support, the agricultural sector can significantly contribute to the country’s economic growth.

PHILIFF offers a unique platform for attendees to learn, network, and explore. From workshops on floral designing to opportunities for business development in floriculture, there is something for everyone. For local and international florists and horticulturists, the festival presents a chance to showcase their work, connect with industry experts, and discover new trends and technologies.
The festival also emphasizes sustainability and community development. One Ayala marketing manager, Mela Miranda-Lasangue, expressed the mall’s commitment to these values, stating, “We’d like to emphasize that we are one with advocacies similar to Sir Jerry’s… We want our customers to discover and be engaged in sustainability efforts.” The festival not only highlights the beauty of flowers but also promotes environmental awareness and sustainable practices.

Don’t miss out on this blooming extravaganza! Mark your calendars for September 19 to 22 and head to the SPACE at One Ayala in Makati to experience the inaugural Philippine International Flower Festival. Join us in celebrating the beauty of nature, supporting local farmers, and exploring new opportunities in the world of floriculture. See you at “Bountiful Blooms”!
