When a set design involves a 45-foot clear-bottom tilting pool; a 6-foot-high treadmill; a 20-foot flying Mylar curtain; and 200-gallon water tank, somehow you just get the feeling that you’re in for quite a unique experience.
Theater and dance fans and the rest of the show-going public who think they’ve seen it all are in for a surprise, as the world-renowned show Fuerza Bruta performs in Manila this month.
Celebrated by audiences across the world, Fuerza Bruta, which translates to “brute force,” is a non-stop fusion of dynamic music, visceral sensation, and kinetic aerial imagery that defies both gravity and convention.
“The show brings together elements of theater, aerial stunts and a dance party, that will surely captivate audience members as soon as they step into the venue,” described Michael Cohl, chairman of S2BN Entertainment, which produces the show.
“The Manila Hotel Tent will be transformed into an alternate universe with thumping beats, engaging dream sequences, and a multidimensional swimming pool above the heads of the audience as they stand in the middle of the action,” he added.
Breaking free from the confines of spoken language and theatrical convention, Fuerza Bruta is an event where worlds collide and reality takes a back seat. During the show, audiences will be engulfed in a 360-degree spectacle featuring mind-blowing visual effects within inches of the audience—from a man running full throttle on a giant treadmill, bursting through a series of moving walls; to tumbling performers suspended in mid-air; and beautiful dancers gyrating in the clear pool overhead.
And unlike other usual live performances, audiences of Fuerza Bruta are urged not just to watch, but also to shout, spin, touch and even help the cast smash things—making it the ultimate interactive live event.
“We have had amazing success touring Fuerza Bruta around the world, and after a very successful run in Taipei, we are excited to bring it back to Asia,” said Cohl, adding [that] “the powerful, high-octane visual extravaganza has great international appeal whether it is in the United States, South America, or Europe, and even in Asia, too.”
The show was founded by some of the creators of the international sensation De La Guarda, including Diqui James (Artistic Director/Creator); Gaby Kerpel (Composer/Musical Director); Alejandro Garcia (Technical Director), Agustina James (Technical Producer), and Fabio Daquila (Production Supervisor).
It has a company in New York that is currently performing in their fourth blockbuster year, as well as a touring company that has played in major cities worldwide, including Buenos Aires, Lisbon, London, Berlin, Mexico, Miami, Chicago, Puerto Rico, Sao Paulo, Madrid, Moscow, Taipei, to high critical acclaim.
Many Hollywood celebrities such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Justin Timberlake, Madonna, Cameron Diaz, Sting, Britney Spears, Harrison Ford, Tyra Banks, Robert DeNiro, Catherine Zeta Jones, Sandra Bullock, Lucy Liu, Demi Moore, Jessica Alba, Fergie, Beyonce, Jude Law, John Legend, Ashton Kutcher, Kanye West and more, have been seen enjoying the show.
The stage has been set for one of the most astounding events of the year as Hoopla Inc., the promoter of Cirque du Soleil here in the Philippines, launches another world-class first in the local entertainment scene.
The cast of Fuerza Bruta will perform in Manila beginning February 14 for six weeks at the Manila Hotel Tent.
