Feng Shui expert graces Manila Hotel Dragon Year celebrations

In keeping with tradition, Manila Hotel is welcoming the year of the water dragon with a grand festivity for luck and prosperity. Dragon dances, fireworks, and a special consultation by international Feng Shui expert Marites Allen will mark the Chinese New Year Celebration at the Manila Hotel.
On January 22 to 23, 2012, the Manila Hotel Lobby Lounge will be opening its doors for a Grand Chinese New Year Bazaar featuring different stores selling lucky charms, house decorations, delectable Chinese delicacies, and other great buys for the start of the year.
The countdown to Chinese New Year will begin at 9:30 in the evening on January 22 with the dotting of the Dragon Eye.

Marites Allen will conduct incense lighting, blessings, and rituals to usher in the Year of the Water Dragon. As the clock strikes 12, Allen will give out her Predictions and Forecasts for 2012 as she shares her expertise in Geomancy and Feng Shui. A horoscope book and lucky charm from Allen will also be given to guests who will participate in the Chinese New Year Celebration at the Manila Hotel.

As the sky lights up with a colorful firework display, guests will delight at the auspicious meal prepared by Manila Hotel Executive Chinese Chef Sun Bing.

An important part of the celebration, the dishes will symbolize luck, longevity, and wealth for the coming year. For the Chinese New Year, Mabuhay Palace is offering a wide array of sumptuous meals including Steamed Garoupa Fillet in Brown Sauce, Dried Fried Shrimp Glazed with Almonds, and the traditional Nian Gao. Fish, which is usually served whole, is an important part of the meal as it symbolizes abundance for the year ahead. The Deep Fried Shrimps, on the other hand, signifies happiness and well-being for the entire family. A permanent dish on the dining table, the Nian Gao or Tikoy symbolizes the togetherness of the family and its usual circular shape represents the never ending flow of luck.
