Yup. Windows has just reached out to the masses.
WOW was definitely the word of the night as the country’s leading value-for-money mobile device brand, Cherry Mobile announced their Windows-powered lineup last night at the Harbor Garden Tent Sofitel Manila.
This collaboration has resulted in four exciting products that are intended to disrupt the tech scene by offering the most affordable Windows 8.1 powered devices. A proud moment for Filipinos as this is the first time global giants Microsoft and Intel will be partnering with home-grown tech company Cherry Mobile.
The experts in software, hardware, and local market are working closely to bring productivity and entertainment two-in-one devices to everyone. Consumers will have a choice between two Qualcomm armed Windows phone handsets named Alpha Luxe and Alpha Style and two convertible tablets dubbed Alpha Morph and Alpha Play powered by Intel, a processor commonly found in personal computers.
According to Karrie Ilagan, General Manager, Microsoft Philippines this partnership with Cherry Mobile marks a milestone for the two companies. “We are going aggressive with the Windows platform, and in order for it to be successful, we need partners who have a deep understanding of the local mobile landscape.”
The Alpha Series: the company’s latest tablet and smartphone offerings for Filipino consumers looking for powerful, stylish, yet affordable Windows devices. Alpha Morph, Play, Style, and Luxe are the first Windows tablets and smartphones produced and distributed by a local brand.
ALPHA MORPH and PLAY TABLETS
Leading the series are Morph and Play, Cherry Mobile’s tablets with the Windows 8.1 operating system. Both devices run on 1.33 gigahertz quad core processors and Intel Gen7 HD graphics.
Morph, priced at Php 11,999, is the more productivity-oriented of the pair, coming with its own keyboard in-box, 32 gigabytes of on-board memory, and two gigabytes of RAM. It has a 10-inch high-definition IPS screen, making its overall build perfect for work on the go.
For those seeking a sleeker tablet experience check out the Cherry ALpha Play, priced at just Php 7,999, It has an 8-inch screen and is designed for mobile play and media consumption, with 16 gigabytes of memory, and a gigabyte of RAM.
Powering the 8-inch Alpha Play and 10-inch Alpha Morph two-in-one tablets is an Intel Atom processor, powerful and fast enough to deliver the whole Windows experience. The 4-inch Alpha Style and 5-inch Alpha Luxe on the other hand will feature the latest quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon System on Chip for an unparalleled Windows Phone experience.

STYLE AND LUXE
Once ruled over by the Lumia, the new Cherry Mobile Alpha Style and Alpha Luxe pose a big threat. Style and Luxe are the series’ smartphones with the Windows Phone 8.1 operating system, priced at Php 2,999 and Php 4,999 respectively.
Both run on 1.2 gigahertz Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processors and Adreno 305 graphics (for gamers). and are dual sim as well.
Style is for the young techie with its 4-inch 800×480 IPS screen, four gigabytes of memory, and 512 megabytes of RAM.
If you’re looking for a bit more power, then get the Luxe. Luxe is for professionals who need powerful smartphones for work. It has a 5-inch 1280×720 HD screen, eight gigabytes of memory, and a gigabyte of RAM.
Cherry Mobile developed the series in partnership with Microsoft, Intel, and Qualcomm. To provide consumers productivity apps out-of-the-box, all Alpha Series Windows phones come with a free download of Office Mobile, while all Alpha Series Windows tablets come with a free one-year subscription of Microsoft Office 365 Personal.
