Is it “smarter” to get the iPhone8 and iPhone8 Plus?

The year 2017 is another great year to be an Apple fan, as instead of just two you get three options to choose from–the iPhone 8, the iPhone 8 Plus, and the super high-end iPhone X.

While the  most expensive iPhone model this year, the iPhone X, in many ways represents the future of the iPhone, the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus continue to be solid options and may even be a lot suited for your daily use (especially considering the price difference.)

 

1. They all have the same brains.  The iPhone X may look different on the outside but as far as its brains or chip, the  new iPhones are all powered by Apple’s new A11 Bionic chip, a neural engine, and the M11 motion coprocessor. The only difference is how the phones use these features: The iPhone X uses the A11 chip and neural engine for its new face-detection system, Face ID, which the iPhone 8 does not have. They all run  iOS 11, which means you’re getting the same great apps and ecosystem in the iPhone 8 as the iPhone X.

2. Touch vs Face: The iPhone X Face recognition may be awesome but the Touch ID security system has proven its effectivity  for the past few years. Since the release of iPhone 5S in 2013, Touch ID has changed the way we use our iPhones — unlocking the device, storing passwords, and using our fingerprints to pay for goods via Apple Pay.

Touch ID is a known, proven entity. Face ID seems to work well, unless you have a twin.

3. Similar cameras: The  iPhone 8 and 8 Plus have the best cameras. And if  your are into  photography, the rear cameras on the iPhone 8 Plus and the iPhone X are nearly identical. The iPhone 8  Plus adds a second telephoto lens so you can zoom in without losing image quality.

4. No Need for new Cases:  If you’re upgrading from an iPhone 7 or 7 Plus the good news is that you don’t have to buy new cases again as your old ones will fit!
