1: THE LOOK.
From the moment you wake up before you put on your makeup—you take a look at your phone. Right?
If your like me, we spend most of the day looking at our phones, so design is one of the most important things to consider. You’d want something that’s looks nice, easy on the eyes and something that you won’t easily get bored of.
It’s a good thing that nowadays, you don’t have to pay a lot to get a nice looking device.
The Honor 8x looks like the “quintessential” Honor phone –and represents the best from the brand.
It features a glossy / textured / glass back and a gradient finish.
It has a metal trim on the sides and a notched display.
The overall design will remind you of the P20 and other phones which have a vertical camera setup but take a look at the back and you’d notice that the Honor 8X has a horizontal gradient design, which makes it easily stand out and recognizable from other devices.
Turn on the screen and you’ll see a hideable notch and a minimal chin which gives it a 91 percent screen to body ratio—giving you even more screen than the P20 Pro.
It’s a really nice looking device that rivals the look and feel of premium flagship handsets which cost way way higher.

2. SPECS
Even if you aren’t much of a techie, Specs is still important, because you don’t just need a phone that looks good, it should also be something that wouldn’t be outdate in a few months. And the Honor 8X has a pretty impressive specsheet.
It is powered by Huawei’s own HiSilicon Kirin 710 2.2GHz octa-core CPU and partnered with a
Mali-G51 MP4 GPU. It has a 4GB RAM 128GB storage expandable via microSD
You have a dual rear camera with 20mp 2mp and a front 16mp
It has a Fingerprint scanner on the back for security purposes, micro USB, OTG capable EMUI 8.2 (Android 8.1 Oreo) and a 3,750mAh battery and Dual SIM
We will get into more detail about the specs but know that you are getting a phone that will be able to cope up with your needs for the next few years.
3. A LARGE SCREEN
Now we come to one of the biggest selling points of the Honor 8x—its large display.
If you are looking to spend some quiet time this holidays season to catchup with your favorite Kdrama, telenobela, or Netflix series, all you need is one of those lazy neck pods and a phone that has a large screen so you can enjoy your binge watching.
The honor 8x crams a whopping 6.5-inch screen it’s a good 91-percent screen-to-body ratio, one of the highest you’re going to find on any phone at any price. The Full HD LCD screen is bright with punchy colors others even said its 397ppi, it’s actually more “Retina” than the iPhone XR. . It is also close to the 21:9 ratio used by cinemas, providing an immersive movie experience.
Given the size of the display, you’d think it’s going to be a very big phone but its really not much bigger than the p20 pro. And because of the 91% screen ratio its still comfortable to hold.
Blue-light emitted from screens on devices such as laptops and smartphones often increase eye fatigue, and if stared at for prolonged periods of time, could also damage your eyes. That’s why the honor 8X has a special mode built into the phone to help combat this. The handset features a new generation eye comfort — certified by TUV Rheinland — that reduces blue-light radiation emitted by the screen to prevent eye fatigue.
4. MADE FOR GAMING
Besides watching movies, that 6.5 inch screen is even better for gaming. Honor 8X’s 19.5:9 screen lets gamers see even more while its nifty processor lets you enjoy an almost seamless gaming experience.
Honor 8X is simply one of the best gaming phones for its price range. Thanks to Huawei’s company’s in-house Kirin 710 chipset, a Mali G51 GPU chipset , combined with the revolutionary GPU turbo technology the 8x deliver a lag free gameplay experience even while playing the most graphically demanding Android games.
The hardware-software integration of the duo helps the handset handle 3D immersive graphics without any performance lags. You also get graphics processing acceleration technology that further optimizes the mobile gaming experience to spike up an impressive 130 % increase in the overall GPU performance.
What this means in simple words is that you can install and play even the most demanding game titles in the Google Play store without facing any lags or performance drops.
Mobile Legends, Ragnarok? Candy crush? Smooth and Easy on the 8x.
5. BUILT FOR MULTITASKING
Christmas is supposed to be that most wonderful time of the year, but it can also be the most toxic… preparing for those Office parties, organizing those family reunions and of course finishing those year-end reports.
You need a phone that can keep up with the extra hectic schedule. The Honor 8x is more than capable of multitasking allowing split screen view so you could switch between tasks easily like checking your emails and finding that best Holiday deal.
6. CAMERA
It no surprise that Pinoys take a lot of photos during the Christmas holidays, with all the travelling, get togethers gifts etc and the only thing worse than missing a party are having bad and blurry photos
The HONOR 8x dual AI cameras are again the best in its class and will help you capture better looking photos. The Honor 8X ups the ante with a dual 20MP paired with a 2MP secondary lens, But more than the sum of its megapixels, its improved AI smarts can recognize “22 different categories and 500 scenarios in real-time” and makes the adjusts automatically.
Probably the best camera feature of the Honor 8x is the SuperNight mode. Using AI to produce excellent night shots without a tripod, all thanks to its multi-frame image stabilisation technology, similar to the ones you’d find on the world’s best smartphone cameras.
Even if your hands are shaky, the technology is capable of analyzing the camera movement, and it intelligently selects and combines several different frames to help give you the most blur-free photo possible.
If you thought the rear cameras were good, the front camera of the Honor 8x is no slouch either. If you love taking selfie’s 16MP Ai-enabled selfie shooter has HDR features, which means you can capture clear selfies even in a dim environment or in a scene with strong backlight.
AR Stickers seem to be the trend for young people who want to look like cats, puppies and add other cutesy stuff on their photos. Not to worry the 8x has quite a collection of builtin stickers, background and even AR characters which you can add to your photos
7. BATTERY
Enjoying all of these features wont be possible without a big battery and the Honor 8x has one of the biggest battery in a smartphone today. At battery without having to charge your phone you need a iAll these wouldn’t be
The Huawei Mate 20 is one of the few phones which has a bigger battery than the Honor 8X—and it’s close With a 3,750mAh battery
You wont have any problem watching videos gaming takng photos and the Honor 8X has no problem surviving a full day with even the most demanding user.
A second day of full use will be on the cards for most, although taking lots of pictures and gaming will knock a couple or so hours off the total on time. Lighter users could well extend usage well into a third day, as was the case when I only used the phone for some web browsing and music streaming.
If for some reason you find yourself short of juice, the Honor 8X packs in two power saving modes. The regular power saving mode limits background activity, reduces visual effects, and turns off email syncing to save on power. The more extreme ultra power saving mode limits the phone to just a selection of apps to greatly extend battery life up to several days.
8. PRICE.
Finally, the price, all of these excellent features probably comes with a hefty price tag right? Wrong ! The Honor 8x has an almost unbelievable price of PHP 12,990,
And with all the features I mentioned above its one of the best, reasonably-priced gift this coming Christmas.
So, if you’re one of those who is looking for a device with the benefits mentioned above, then the Honor 8X should be on top of your list.
