CAMOUFLAGE
- The Act, means, or result of obscuring things to deceive an enemy, as by painting or screening objects so that they are lost to view in the background, or by making up objects that from a distance have the appearance of fortifications, guns, roads.
- Concealment by some means that alters or obscures the appearance
- What I was trying achieve every single Saturday during my senior high school year to avoid CAT (Citizen Army Training)
During my last year in high school , I must have set several school records (coming to school 5 minutes before dismissal, putting a score of zero on my own Math quiz paper, exempting my self from English exams, and cutting classes for the sake of our school newspaper) and perhaps having the most number of excuses to avoid coming to school every Saturday (headache, LBM, fever, cough flu, going to the printing press, family affair and the list goes on…) and for that, I think i was also the only one who got demoted from the Model Platoon because of my absences.
I was a lousy cadet (by choice, mind you) because lets face it, waking up 5am on a Saturday is torture in itself.
Come initiation day, I weasled out, and instead of joining all my classmates in their physical training, I luckily avoided that disgusting boodlefight (i was told) that was served as their lunch. Quick backstory–everyone was asked to bring packed lunch and some idiot decided to bring sardines while another thought Chocolait was a good idea, so when those sadistic officers of ours decided to mix everything in one big boodle buffet–well you get the idea.
Like I said, I was able to avoid that disgusting initiation, unfortunately when I got back the week after, our school commandant, was already looking for me. I knew it was unfair, and I somehow expected to be punished, but I never thought that the entire school would be watching my initiation.
I was okay with the physical challenges, but when all your classmates (including my crush) is watching you do hundreds of pushups, “duck-walking” all over the school quadrangle and running back and forth like an idiot–trying to maintain your poise without collapsing was more of a challenge.
Pushups actually became a regular Saturday thing for me. and our commandant would even be greeting me at the gate, to personally “request ” for my 50 pushups for being late.
So despite being one of the fat cadets, I felt I was one of those who could do a decent number of proper push-ups before looking like a dolphin out of water.
But that was a llllllloooooooonnnnnnngggggggg time ago.
So imagine my horror when I plucked “Do 10 pushups” from the challenge aquarium during Veloci’s launch event a few weeks back.
Instead of “dropping like a log” I dolphin-dived my way to perhaps 10 of the worst push-ups man was never supposed to see, and two weeks later, my arms are still sore as hell…
But I’m not complaining because the reward was well worth those 26 seconds of agony.

Just to clarify, we were not forced to do push ups to get the watch, it was all part of the team challenges which has become a trademark of sorts for every Veloci launch. Instead of a boring presentation, guests are encouraged to join games to further explore and experience the features of the new watch.
I’ve been a fan of Veloci watches ever since it launched its first collection a couple of years ago. With colorful interchangeable straps, italian inspired design and a price seems too good to be true.

For its 2015 Holiday collection, Veloci reveals its Camouflage collection sporting a more rugged look and fiercer design that embodies its bold stand against other pricier brands.
Its also quite ironic since its the kind of Camo you’d want to flaunt around, as it can easily turn heads. Ive been getting a lot of inquiries about it and people often mistake it for that other brand and tell them to check out Veloci.
Camouflage made a comeback this year thanks to Valentino who suited up Ben Stiller’s Derek Zoolander and Owen Wilson’s Hansel in custom fatigues for Paris Fashion Month. The Italian fashion house undoubtedly heralded the return of camo and the menswear favorite has also been spotted on superstars like Rihanna and Miley Cyrus.
This is what makes the camouflage such a timeless print. It works well in sprucing up with nearly any outfit—be it in school, at the office, by the pool, on a date,or even just when you dress to express. Take your pick from the collection’s several camo combinations for a look that stands out.

True to form, Italian-inspired watch brand Veloci embraces the trend with the launch of its Holiday timepieces. The collection showcases the definitive botanic camouflage print, reworked in brighter colors and bolder designs.
The launch of this collection could not come at a better time. As everybody gears up for the holidays, these watches would be a sensible style staple for accessorizing the looks we are bound to see this season. Camouflage prints add edge to minimalist and somber fall outfits, while grounding a sparkly party ensemble with a street-style vibe. Fashionable and functional, the Camo is another versatile Veloci timepiece you can wear from work to play.
The Veloci Holiday Collection comes in two styles. Taking design inspiration from their bestselling Pulse, the Camo contains the same power-packed features: with a dual-time display, stopwatch and alarm, illuminator, and water resist of up to 100 meters. Folks on the go can sport this watch to wherever their next getaway may be.
Feeling more adventurous? Then the Camo Active is for your. It has the same features of the Pulse but with a slightly different look. This watch has a stainless steel top ring, inner ring, and 200-meter water resist. A mineral glass cover renders it anti-shock. Perfect for extreme sports enthusiasts with a penchant for minimal accessorizing and maximum impact.
In terms of color choices, the classic army green is imbued with flecks of black and orange to give it a nice color contrast. Rise up the fashion ranks with the Veloci Camo’s other colors: rogue red, cadet gray and infantry blue.
Veloci kiosks are in SM Megamall, SM Mall of Asia, SM San Lazaro, SM Clark, SM Pampanga, SM Manila, SM Fairview, SM Southmall, Market! Market!and Festival Mall.
