Summit Water and 100Plus Renews Support for Adidas KOTR

For the third consecutive year, runners will be vying for the Adidas King of the Road (KOTR) crown for the Philippines, with all routes leading to the South East Asian regional championship to be held in Malaysia this October. The annual running event holds a qualifying leg in each of the five participating countries, namely the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia.

The Philippines is hosting the first leg, which will be held on July 7 at Bonifacio High Street, Taguig. The official hydration partners of KOTR are Summit Natural Drinking Water and 100PLUS Isotonic Sports Drink, which have been supporting the race since 2012.

“This is an even more exciting race because a new category geared specifically for the youth has been opened to encourage even more younger participants to get into a healthy lifestyle,” says Abe Cipriano, AVP, Asia Brewery. “As with any other race we support, we are on hand to ensure that runners are properly hydrated not only during the race, but also during the recovery period after.”

The Students’ Relay category is open only to college and university students aged 25 below. The relay team must have a male and female team member, each running 5K. Each member stands to win individual cash prizes, as well as prizes for their respective schools.

Aside from the 10K Relay, a regular 10K category for men and women is open to all nationalities while the 16.8K category will have Filipino-only and open legs for both men and women. Winners get a chance to win up to P35,000 in prizes, as well as an opportunity to participate in the final championship race as a Philippine representative in the closed categories.

“We encourage everyone to sign up and aspire for the finish, perspire on the way, and hopefully, inspire your friends and family to get into the active lifestyle supported by both Summit Natural Drinking Water and 100PLUS Isotonic Sports Drink. See you on race day!” Cipriano stated
