LAST NIGHT– Unfortunately this isn’t a review of Piolo Pascual and Toni Gonzaga’s movie.
This is about another night for a group of blogger friends that involves cute bears, black lights, baby back ribs, FPJs flags, a pink coffin and clues from “Baby Boy” (who was christened by RM Marcelo).
Organized by fellow blogger, Jeman “OrangeMagazinePh is in the Top 50 blogs” Villanueva, we braved the horrific EDSA payday traffic and skipped a couple of other events for a night that turned out to be one of the most enjoyable and enlightening events I’ve had this year.
If I remember correctly, it was also around this time of the year, when Jeman took us on a cemetery tour somewhere in Laguna.
And though we didn’t go to another cemetery this time (although our hosts asked us if we wanted to tour their mortuary), the topic was once again about death.
Death is never a fun topic, coz no one wants to die anytime soon, but its a fact of life that we should accept and
prepare for.
Our hosts for the evening was St. Peter, which I’ve come to know as that place near Pegasus–I mean the Philhealth office. I also know that their endorser is Kuya Kim and that they’ve made the Pink Coffin famous. What I didn’t know is that they are also pretty famous when it comes to Life Plans and are known to be the DeathCare Experts.

It was the first time they held a bloggers night, and they wanted to tell us about DeathCare Week which aims to promote awareness on DeathCare planning and preparation. Its a week long celebration that start on October 27 and ends on November 2.
“DeathCare Week is the company’s major Corporate Social Responsibility and Public Service Program that aims to make people aware of the importance of DeathCare Planning and preparation. Its also their way of joining the entire nation in commemorating All Saints Day and All Souls Day.
“We are now on our 10th St Peter DeathCare Week and we picked these dates not only because All Saints Day and All Souls Day fall within this period, but it also coincides with the anniversary of the company,” Dra. Mildred Vitangcol Chairman of the Board St. Peter Life Plan, Inc, explained to us.
Since it is during these dates that Filipinos visit, honor and remember our departed loved ones, I guess its also the best time to be aware of Death Care Preparation and planning for such realities.
Among the activities during DeathCare week is a mass On October 29,which will be held at the Talitha Kum Healing Mass on TV and will be aired in PTV4, 8:00 am to be attended by the employees, plan holders and officers of St. Peter.
On October 31 to November 1, St. Peter will put up Pink Tents in selected cemeteries as well as provide free pink tricycle rides. The Pink Tricycles will serve the following areas:
- Manila North Cemetery
- Bicol Memorial Park
- Marilao Catholic Cemetery
- Tuguegarao Public Cemetery
- Catholic Cemetery in Calamba
- Holy Family Cemetery in Calamba
- Rizal Memorial Park in Calamba
- Holy Garden in Calamba
- Everest Hill Memorial Park in Calamba
- Laoag Public Cemetery
- Love Memorial Park in Kawit Cavite
- El Reposo Cemetery in Tacloban
St. Peter Pink tents will be put up in selected cemeteries nationwide to provide assistance to those who will visit their loved ones in the cemetery. The Standing Pink Caskets replicas will be displayed for the cemetery goers to view and enjoy. St. Peter Life Plan will also give out free hand fans and umbrellas. And of course, if you are planning to get a St. Peter Life Plan, agents will be there to explain how the Life Plan works.
And to kick-off the DeathCare Week, St. Peter Life Plan has partnered once again with Breakout Philippines to emphasize the need to plan ahead, not just for your own memorial needs but for your family as well.
Starting October 1, experience how is it is plan, solve and escape with St. Peter in the following Breakout rooms and branches:
- SM North EDSA – Boogeyman and Sleep No More Rooms
- Greenbelt 5 – Corpse Bride Room
- Katipunan – Clownhouse Room
- Paragon Plaza – Hide and Seek Room
And that was the reason why we were all there last night– to get a feel of what the Breakout x St. Peter Escape Rooms was going to be about.
Check out this Timelapse video:
We were separated into four groups, and was told we had an hour to solve the puzzles.
As soon as we got our box, each of us got a part of the puzzle clue to try and figure out what the first clue The first puzzle required completing a message by decoding some words. We figured that one easily although the next one “You Are Probably Holding It right now” got us soaking papers wet (and got the message CUTE BEAR a latter puzzle clue) using our phone’s flashlights to look for the next clue–which we eventually found in the PEN–that I was holding.
Next was to figure out the code to unlock the box by lining up several transparent sheets to complete the clue–but since we weren’t listening we actually forgot whether we were group 1 or 4. Eventually we unlocked our box and figured out the next part. The end of the game required all of the groups to work together–identifying the flags and cutting open a helpless teddy bear before finding a sim card that contained the final message—which was part bible verse part inspirational message–I think.
Anyways, if the Breakout Rooms were anything like our game, I could only imagine just how noisy and tense it would be to be locked up inside a room! Which we will be trying out tomorrow!
If you love escape rooms, make sure to sign up for one of the St. Peter partner rooms at BreakOut!
