Prepare for five hours of nonstop rock music as four foreign bands– The Used, The Cab, Cobra Starship and Dashboard Confessional Chris Carraba share the stage with local rockers Chicosci, Urbandub and Typecast at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum for Smash Project 2012 happening on March 8, 2012.
Formed in 2001, American rock band The Used quickly rose to fame after releasing their self-titled album. The band is composed of Bert McCracken, Jeph Howard, Quinn Allman and Dan Whitesides.
The Used’s rock music can be further described as Gross Pop. McCracken explains, “In the past, we’ve always kind of brought pop sensibility into heavy rock, but this is going to be all that much more tantalizing and brutal. Our songs are 10 times messier and noisier than they’ve ever been.”
American synthpop band Cobra Starship, was created by lead vocalist Gabe Saporta in 2003 and became popular for their songs “Good Girls Go Bad” that featured Gossip Girl Leighton Meester and “You Make Me Feel…” The group is composed of Saporta, Ryland Backington, Alex Suarez, Nate Navarro and Victoria Asher.
Also joining the rock fest is American rock band The Cab. The band was proclaimed by Alternative Press magazine as one of the “100 Bands You Need to Know in 2010”. Their self-released album Symphony Soldier was hailed by critics as a “masterpiece” while its single entitled “Bad” received positive reviews from critics and listeners as well. The Cab’s members include Alexander De Leon, Alex Marshal and Joey Thunder.
Finally, Dashboard Confessional’s Chris Carraba returns to the country on an acoustic set up this time around. The band is known for their hit songs Vindicated, Stolen and Belle of the Boulevard. Their last album, “Alter the Ending”, showed maturity in terms of musicality and content.
Although Cobra Starship and Dashboard Confessional have recently visited the country, it will be the first time that these bands will perform together in Manila. All of them are currently on tour in various Asian countries.
Kick of the heat of summer with a concert like no other as each group performs a full set concert that will have fans pumping their fists, shouting themselves hoarse and cheering endlessly for each of their favorite bands. End the first quarter of 2012 with a bang, and witness a rock fusion like never before as DAYLY Entertainment presents SMASH Project 2012. For tickets call 911-5555 or visit www.ticketnet.com.ph
