Mark the year 2011. Because for the very first time in Philippine pageant history, the first Miss World- Philippines will be chosen.
Leading the nationwide search for the rightful Miss World – Philippines is beauty and wellness guru Cory Quirino, Chair and CEO of CQ Global Quest, who is determined to give the much-anticipated beauty search a meaningful purpose by adopting the slogan “Beauty in Giving”. “It is high time to make a Filipina’s dreams come true, a lady who will embody the true spirit of Filipino womanhood, one who will proudly represent her country while utilizing her beauty to inspire, to help and to heal”. For this reason, CQGQ’s charity gala night has chosen the PGH Medical Foundation and Tuloy Street Children Foundation as Miss World Philippines 2011’s major beneficiaries. Other beneficiaries, like the Catholic Women’s Club are also in full support of this cause-oriented beauty pageant.
Last January 25 in a successful press conference , on hand to award the exclusive license agreement of the Miss World- Philippines to Ms. Quirino was the venerable Julia Morley herself—the dynamic Chairman and CEO of Miss World Limited. Mrs. Morley, who was accompanied by reigning Miss World Alexandria Mills from the USA and first runner-up Emma Wareus from Botswana, called the event a” significant and momentous occasion” for Miss World organizers.
Since its beginning, the annual worldwide beauty search has been able to assist in the alleviation of the plight of marginalized women and children with Miss World Limited having raised more than US$400 million to date in support of countless charities.
Ms. Quirino’s vast experience in serving underprivileged communities makes her a fitting figure to spearhead the pageant. “With more than 15 years as an officer serving Rotary International Districts 3810 and 3830, I have found the focus on community development by the organizers of Miss World supportive of my continuing advocacies.”
