Luxury with a Purpose: How Sam Verzosa Turned His Love for SuperCars into a Lifesaving Initiative

Many people have a deep passion for their hobbies and possessions, often making it difficult for them to part with items that hold sentimental or personal value. Whether it’s a collection of toys, rare memorabilia, or even artistic creations, or luxury cars, these objects can symbolize personal achievement, memories, or identity.
Enthusiasts can spend years curating collections or mastering hobbies, finding fulfillment in the pursuit of excellence or beauty. They often see their possessions as a representation of their life’s journey. Each item in their collection might tell a story, reminding them of milestones, people, or moments they cherish. In fact, it’s common to hear stories of individuals who hold onto prized possessions—even in the face of financial gain or practicality—because the emotional connection outweighs any material benefit.

However, there are moments when a higher purpose calls, and some individuals choose to relinquish their beloved possessions for a cause greater than personal satisfaction.
Sam Verzosa is one such example, who, despite his deep passion for luxury cars, decided to auction off ten of his most valuable vehicles to fund a charitable cause. In such cases, the decision to part with treasured items becomes an act of selflessness, transforming personal passions into instruments of change for the greater good.

The co-founder of Frontrow auctioned off ten rare supercars from his collection– including a very sentimental Bentley, to raise P200 million to fund the construction of a Dialysis and Diagnostic Center in Sampaloc, Manila.

The Bentley he auctioned carried special meaning, as it had been his late father’s dream car. His father passed away before he could enjoy the vehicle, making the decision to sell it a personal and emotional one for Verzosa. However, honoring his father’s memory by using the funds to help dialysis patients—just as his father had been—motivated him to let go.

Batang Sampaloc: Giving Back to His Roots:
Born and raised in Sampaloc, Manila, Verzosa has never forgotten the struggles his community faces. Despite his remarkable success in business, he has maintained a commitment to giving back to the neighborhood that shaped him. His initiative to build a dialysis center in Sampaloc is a personal project aimed at providing critical healthcare services to those who otherwise could not afford them.

The high cost of dialysis treatments makes them out of reach for many families, and Verzosa’s father also underwent dialysis before his passing, giving him firsthand knowledge of these challenges. By building this center, Verzosa is addressing an urgent healthcare need in Manila. Plans for additional dialysis centers in other areas of the city—such as Tondo, Quiapo, Ermita, and Malate—are part of his broader vision to expand access to life-saving medical care.
Frontrow and Philanthropy: A Legacy of Giving
Even before building these dialysis center, Verzosa has long been active in philanthropy through Frontrow Cares, the corporate social responsibility arm of Frontrow. The organization has contributed to various causes, from disaster relief efforts to supporting hospitals and schools. Frontrow Cares has been a vital platform for Verzosa to extend help to underserved communities across the country.

Through these charitable endeavors, Verzosa has shown a consistent dedication to improving the lives of his fellow Filipinos, particularly in times of crisis, such as during the COVID-19 pandemic. His belief that business success comes with the responsibility to uplift others is central to his advocacy.
Sam Verzosa’s Public Service on Dear SV
In addition to his work as a businessman and philanthropist, Verzosa hosts a public service TV show, Dear SV, where he helps underprivileged Filipinos by providing them with medical, financial, and educational assistance. The show, which airs on GMA 7, highlights the inspiring stories of ordinary Filipinos who face significant challenges but remain resilient.

Dear SV has also gained recognition beyond the Philippines, earning a nomination at the ContentAsia Awards 2024 for Best Current Affairs Programme Made in Asia, further amplifying Verzosa’s mission to reach and help more people
Through the show, Verzosa not only shares inspiring stories but also offers concrete help to those in need, reflecting his deep commitment to public service.

A Vision for Public Service
As Verzosa transitions into politics, running for mayor of Manila, healthcare remains a central focus of his platform. His personal experiences growing up in Sampaloc, coupled with his father’s health battles, have shaped his commitment to creating lasting change in the city. Verzosa’s philanthropic work—whether through Frontrow Cares, his TV show, or the dialysis centers—illustrates his determination to leave a positive legacy in Manila.
By auctioning off his prized Super Cars, Verzosa showed that even the most personal possessions could be transformed into tools for good. His efforts to improve healthcare access in Manila are just the beginning of what he hopes will be a citywide transformation, ensuring that no one is left behind when it comes to medical care.
