If you’ve ever wondered why I always have vitamin C and a few other vitamins at home, you can thank our generous friends at PascualLab. My neighbors can probably thank them, too. Whenever I have extra, I share.

So when PascualLab sent over its 80th anniversary press kit, I figured I knew what to expect. Then I saw the Certificate of Donation. There was my name, Ed Uy, in big green letters. It was the line underneath that caught me by surprise.
PascualLab had donated ₱16,558 worth of Ascof Lagundi Ponkan products to Caritas Manila on my behalf to help children in Manila.

That’s how PascualLab chose to thank media partners who’ve covered the company over the years. Usually, when I pass along something from PascualLab, I know who’s getting it. This time, the gift is for children I may never meet. Seeing my name on that certificate made me curious about where Caritas Manila would be sharing the products.

How Caritas Manila reaches families
In October, 90 members of Asilo de San Vicente de Paul, one of Caritas Manila’s partner communities, received free medical checkups and cough relief. PascualLab employees volunteered that day, and the two organizations signed an agreement to continue working together.

Through its Sowing to Empower, Educate, and Develop (S.E.E.D.) program, PascualLab will supply products, and Caritas Manila will help get them to communities it already serves. Along with lagundi cough remedies, C-Lium Fibre and OraCare Mouthrinse, those supplies include a familiar item in my household, Poten-Cee vitamin C for adults and children.

As it turns out, vitamin C was part of the family business from day one. When Leonora and Isosceles Pascual founded the company in 1946, they set out to help meet the need for vitamin C and provide tuberculosis relief in the Philippines after the war.

Happy 80th, PascualLab, and salamat. I’ll still be sharing vitamins with the neighbors. But of all the things you’ve sent me over the years, that green-lettered certificate is the one I’m keeping.
