IT seems TV5 is finally discovering a winning formula for its prime-time lineup. Nagbabagang Bulaklak, its second dramaserye, premiered on Monday, posting an impressive audience share of 19.4 percent and a 5.6-percent people rating in Mega Manila.Hoping to emulate the success of Alex Gonzaga in Babaeng Hampas-lupa, Nagbabagang Bulaklak once again introduces two new primetime princesses—Arci Muñoz and Ritz Azul. The two beautiful young ladies play the roles of Dahlia and Daisy, two sisters who get enmeshed in the complicated and controversial world of show business in pursuit of their dream to become successful dancers.
Sheryl Cruz plays their mother Rosal, a former dancer who is apprehensive of her daughters’ involvement in show business, knowing too well of the prevalent temptations and dangers in the industry.
The dramaserye also brings together a powerhouse cast including Ruffa Gutierrez, Richard Gomez, Valerie Concepcion, Carla Humphries, James Blanco, Jay Aquitania, Victor Basa, Allan Paule, Jean Saburit, Mel Martinez, WWgirls Luningning, Milagring and Mariposa, and Philip Salvador in a special participation.
Passion. Talent. Rivalry. Ambition. Love. These are just some of the elements that will trigger viewers’ curiosity as the series takes on the controversies and intense behind the scene drama happening in the world show business.
“Nagbabagang Bulaklak offers viewers an inside look at showbiz, particularly the drama behind the lives of TV dancers in their quest for stardom—something that has not been tackled in a teleserye by any network,” said TV5 production executive Perci Intalan.
Gutierrez said that viewers could expect to see a lot of similarities between the show’s characters and real life celebrities, TV executives and even media personalities.
In the series, Apollo Ortega a.k.a. Mr. A (Gomez), is the production and creative head of major TV network ETVN, and an unfaithful husband to Orchidia Ortega a.k.a. Ms. O (Gutierrez). The story gets hotter and more provocative with the desperate actions of Violet (Concepcion), a prima donna star of a popular variety show whose paranoia of being upstaged and outshone by fresh artists steers her to malevolent schemes.
During an elaborate launch on March 15 at the Teatrino in Greenhills, members of the media were shown a very controversial trailer prompting some to wonder if the show would be testing the limits of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board.
The trailer showed lead stars Arci Muñoz and Ritz Azul frolicking in a river wearing very revealing outfits—reminiscent of the white kamison and the old wet look, that was made popular by Gloria Diaz in Ang Pinaka magandang Hayop sa Balat ng Lupa.
Whether the series will continue with these kinds of daring scenes is something that viewers need to watch out for.
