Huawei Partners with the University of Southeastern Philippines for the First ICT Skills Competition in Davao City

Huawei Technologies Philippines, Inc. Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, partnered with the University of Southeastern Philippines for the First HUAWEI ICT Skills Competition- Collegiate Level。 The event was held last December 12,2018 in USeP Engineering Building Social Hall.。This is the very first ICT Skills Competition sponsored by HUAWEI in the Philippines.

With the theme Connection, Glory, Future, the ICT Skills Competition aims to motivate students to strive to overcome challenges, develop local talents and to prepare them as future professionals with in-depth knowledge and digital expertise.

Forty One students from UseP qualified to join the contest based on their mock exam results。 Emerging as top winners are Justin Andre De Leon –First Place, Karla Sison – Second Place, Jana Alexis Paner – Third Place. Mr. Allen Li, Huawei Director for the Philippines together with Dean Tamara Mercado of USeP presented the Trophies,Certificates,Learning Voucher and brand new handsets to the winners.

Mr. Alan Li, in his opening speech said that he hopes to join hands with more universities in the Philippines to share Huawei Learning and Certifications to improve the capability and skills of the students to support the demand for digital transformation and to help in local talent development.

Guest of Honor during the event is Councilor Joanne Bonguyan, Chairperson of Davao City Council for Information Technology Committee。 She expressed her gladness and gratitude to HUAWEI for initiating the competition that encourages students to develop their talents with practical skills for the ICT industry which will have a significant contribution to the fast growing economic development of Davao City.

The winners will be competing in the national finals in 2019 and will vie for the right to represent the Philippines in the South Pacific Regionals in Q2 2019.
