Rachel Bilson makes her much-awaited comeback to TV as a big city girl who finds herself moving to a small town where life, to her surprise, does not get any simpler. Premiering on September 29, Thursday at 8PM on 2nd Avenue, Hart of Dixie tells the tale of Zoe Hart (Bilson), an ambitious New York doctor who just graduated top of her class from medical school and has dreams of following her father’s footsteps to become a cardio-thoracic surgeon. But when things don’t go as she had planned she finds herself accepting an offer from a mysterious Dr. Harley Wilkes (Nicholas Pryor), to work with him at his small practice in Bluebell, Alabama.
Making the trip cross country, upon arrival at the small scenic town Zoe discovers that Harley has in fact passed away and left his half of the medical practice to her in his will. Less than pleased to be sharing his clinic with a young girl from out of town, local doctor Brick Breeland (Tim Matheson) shows Zoe that Southern hospitality may not always be so hospitable.
Like father, like daughter, Lemon Breeland (Jaime King) is also displeased by the arrival of a new girl in town. One of Bluebell’s sweet southern belle’s, does Lemon see Zoe as a threat to her picture perfect life? If she does her intuition is spot on as spark’s fly when Zoe meets handsome lawyer George Tucker (Scott Porter), Lemon’s fiancé, and they hit it off right away.
However not everyone shows Zoe a cold shoulder, the town’s mayor, former football star Lavon Hayes (Cress Williams), offers her a guest house on his property to live in. While neighbor and resident bad boy Wade Kinsella (Wilson Bethel) shows Zoe that small-town life can be just as fun and wild as the big city.
With all the challenges that lay before her, will Zoe decide to run back to New York where life is familiar and comfortable, or stay in Bluebell as she discovers a side of herself she hadn’t known was there.
