Telco giant Globe forges another strategic alliance to provide Filipinos the best in entertainment. This time Globe partners with Google to introduce Chromecast, Google’s media streaming device that allows Globe subscribers to “mirror” or show the content of their mobile devices such as movies, shows, music and games to their big screen TVs.

Chromecast is a thumb-sized media streaming device that plugs into the High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) port of one’s television set at home. With Chromecast, customers can cast their smartphone, tablet, or laptop to a bigger screen for a better and more inclusive viewing experience. Chromecast can also be used as a remote control for TV, set-up a party at home with the TV set as instant DJ or VJ, enjoy family game-time with smartphones as controllers, watch shows that only selected users can hear, and view Chromecast-ready apps.20150928_191050_120150928_190943_120150928_190902_1

Google Chromecast was first introduced in 2013 to bring a Chrome browser experience to your TV, turning ordinary TVs into Smart TVs. Chromecast is compatible with Android devices, tablets, iPhones, iPads, Macs or Windows laptops or Chromebooks, allowing users to cast their favorite entertainment and apps to the big screen. To use Chromecast, customers can plug in the device to an HDMI TV and a power source, download the app on a smartphone device, tablet, or laptop, authenticate the code, and click the cast icon on their apps to view content on TV.20150928_173927_1 20150928_173723 20150928_173131_1

“Home is very important to Globe. We’ve created entertainment in the smartphone and we want to bring it to homes and make our customers enjoy a truly rich digital home experience,” said Ernest Cu, president and CEO of Globe.

“The use of mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets have transformed how people communicate, share things, and consume content. The smartphones given the power of this connectivity is changing the way we live,” Cu said.

Filipinos can enjoy the following apps which are Chromecast-ready:

TV and Movies: HOOQ, CrunchyRoll, Stream2Cast, AllCast, Flixster, Dailymotion, Viki, SkyOnline and more.
Games: Just Dance Now, Monopoly Dash, Wheel of Fortune, Rube, Catch Phrase Blitz, FitFlap, Scrabble Blitz, Alien Invaders, Big Web Quiz and more. Sports: NBA App, MLB, Red Bull TV and more. Photos and Videos: YouTube, Chrome, Piccastr, BubbleUPnP, Pixlr, Lyve, Avia, Picture Cast, DayFrame and more.20150928_190956_1

Globe customers can get the Chromecast for free starting at Globe Home Broadband Plan 1299 with free access to HOOQ as well as across all Home Broadband Plans with free access to HOOQ and Spotify or the NBA League Pass.

“HOOQ has made media consumption more personal. We’ve shifted from appointment viewing to watching at our own convenience. We can choose when we want to watch, and on which device we want to watch it on. To date, HOOQ, in partnership with Globe, has already gained 100,000++ downloads on the Google Play and Apple App Store,” shares Jane Cruz-Walker, Country Manager at HOOQ Philippines.

She adds, “But at home, TV watching is still a shared experience. The Pinoy family bonds in front of the TV, and shares the laughs, action, or drama of a great story, so we are all looking forward to the arrival of Chromecast in the country through Globe. As long as you have Chromecast, at the press of a button, you can instantly cast your favorite HOOQ show from your mobile or tablet to your TV screen.”20150928_181908 20150928_182204 20150928_182223
