Caltex powers 16th Philippine Hot Air Balloon Fiesta

Amazing Race Asia contestants, popular soccer team Supa Strika items, and Caltex balloon ride to delight this year’s visitors to Caltex booth

Caltex, one of the leading energy brands in Asia and marketed by Chevron Philippines Inc. (CPI), continued its support of culture and tourism in the country as it sponsored the 2011 Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta (PIHABF) at the Clark Freeport, Pampanga.

The PIHABF attracts over 100,000 visitors a year. This years’ edition was expected to draw even more people to witness at least 30 hot air balloons from all over the world, some with odd shapes, fly early in the morning and late afternoons for four days. In between, visitors can enjoy the skydiving, airplane aerobatics, RC aircraft exhibitions, kite flying, paragliding, and airplane formation flying.

Caltex with Techron and Caltex Diesel with Techron D, held  exciting activities at its booths for visitors throughout the  PIHABF.

Amazing Race Asia’s first Philippine winner Richard Herrera, together with co-racers Lani Pilinger and Jacinta James of the Philippine Girls Team, will be there to greet guests and promote Supa Strikas, a popular comics and animation about soccer. Visitors to the Caltex booth can join several challenges to win Supa Strikas items.

Caltex also brought around 40  students of  Educational Research and Development Assistance Technical (ERDA Tech) Foundation from Pandacan to the Festival.  ERDA Tech trains indigent students in vocational courses for free to help them escape poverty.  ERDA Tech scholars, along with Caltex partners, customers and employees, will be treated to tethered hot air balloon flights.

Caltex Brand Manager Veronica Pangilinan said, “Partnering with PIHABF is Caltex’ way of supporting tourism in the country. As a company, we learn from and respect the cultures in which we work and place the highest priority on the protection of our environment. Caltex is proud to be associated with PIHABF as it draws enormous attention to the country’s environment and tourism industry.”

Aside from Hot Air Balloon Fiesta, Caltex regularly supports other popular festivals in the country like Buling-Buling in Pandacan, Sinulog in Cebu, Panagbenga in Bagiuo, Kadayawan in Davao and Dinagyang in Iloilo.
