There are concerts that entertain—and then there are concerts that transform. At the Grand Hyatt in Taguig, A Symphony of Giving 2025 did both.
Hosted by J Foundation, the event gathered children, families, donors, partner institutions, and artists in a shared celebration of compassion. Its message was simple yet deeply felt: small acts of kindness, like notes in a song, can build a brighter world when played together.
From a Hospital Room to a Regional Movement
The foundation’s story began in 2017, inside a modest hospital in Hanoi. What started as a small effort by Japanese expatriates has evolved into a growing philanthropic organization powered by more than 600 Japanese donors committed to uplifting communities across Asia.
Their mission remains consistent: to empower children and build safer, healthier futures through sustainable programs rooted in healthcare, education, and social development.
Over the years, Filipino and Japanese educators, artists, performers, and health advocates have rallied behind this cause, ensuring that donations translate into tangible help—pediatric medical supplies, training support for hospitals, and learning materials for young students.
A Night Where Giving Took Center Stage
This year’s advocacy concert embraced the theme A Symphony of Giving, spotlighting how compassion flows across causes—helping cancer warriors regain confidence, promoting inclusive education for all learners, or inspiring children to care for the planet.
“Through this concert, we hope to bring these children and their families joy and to remind communities of how generosity and kindness can inspire meaningful action,” — Takahiro Fushimi, Executive Director, J Foundation
The program highlighted the foundation’s work with key Philippine partners including PGH Pediatrics, Silahis ng Kalusugan, CHILD Foundation Inc., the Manila Schools Division Office, and inclusive learning centers such as P. Gomez Elementary School.
Entertainment was both inspiring and heartfelt, with appearances from Filipina powerhouse singer Morissette Amon, Miss Grand Philippines International 2024 CJ Opiaza, and performances by revered groups including Daloy Dance Company, Taiko Drummers, and the Mandaluyong Children’s Choir.
Projects That Spark Imagination and Restore Hope
More than a stage show, the event introduced initiatives that directly benefit children:
The Philos Green Games tabletop activity, donated by Mr. Eiji Murata, encouraged kids to discover creative ways to protect the environment.
Crowning Courage, a project led by world champion stylist Masaaki Kurosawa, gifted handcrafted wigs to young cancer warriors to help rebuild confidence.
Essential hygiene kits from Dr. Masato Yokosuka ensured children had basic care supplies they could take home.
These efforts, Mr. Fushimi noted, are designed not just for the moment, but as sparks that ignite bigger dreams.
“We want this concert to be more than just another celebration. We want it to be a reminder that everyone can play a part in uplifting children—and that these kids can dream big.”
Continuing the Work Beyond the Music
Even after the lights dimmed, the foundation’s mission remained. In recent years, J Foundation has:
Donated Wikahon activity books to young learners
Funded student lunches
Provided prepaid internet for online learning
Distributed hygiene and grocery kits
Donated computers and school supplies to underserved communities
Their goal now is to expand these efforts further across the Philippines, deepening partnerships and reaching even more children.
“Giving—even in its simplest form—can create ripples of compassion long after the event,” Mr. Fushimi concluded.
In a world searching for reminders of hope, A Symphony of Giving 2025 offered one: when communities come together, generosity turns into music—and children become its brightest chorus.
