3M, the global company that never stops inventing, celebrated its 49th anniversary in February at Enderun Restaurant 101 in Taguig and geared up for activities leading up to its 50th year in the Philippines in 2014.

Also in February 3M was again named one of the world’s “Most Admired Companies” by Fortune Magazine which releases an annual list based on recommendations of 3,800 executives, directors and analysts. Ranking was based on innovation, people management, use of corporate assets, social responsibility, quality of management, financial soundness, long-term investment, quality of products and services, and global competitiveness.

Fortune described 3M as “an idea-generating machine” and praised the company’s decades-old policy that allows its technical employees to dedicate up to 15 percent of their time at work to pet projects. 3M has been on the Fortune 500 List consistently since 2007.

(L-R)  James Younghusband, Director for The Younghusband Football Academy (TYFA) congratulated 3M Philippines on their 49th Anniversary in the Philippines. With him are Ramesh Ramadurai 3M Philippines Managing Director, Rika Kamibayashi 3M Manager for Training & Corporate Communications, and Coach Jojo Durian TYFA Technical Adviser and Director.

At the anniversary celebration of the local subsidiary meanwhile, 3M Philippines Managing Director Ramesh Ramadurai made an unrelenting commitment to make lives better for Filipinos by continuing to deliver quality and innovative solutions that advance companies, enhance homes and improve lives.

“Our corporate vision is to extend ourselves to our customers. Customer intimacy is what allows us to be at the top of our game, so we will take it further by improving our internal processes to deliver 3M quality in all aspects of our business. The innovation that is a hallmark of our products will also be felt by our customers in the way we do business, especially as we deploy SAP (a German enterprise software to manage business operations and customer relations) this year to allow us to strengthen competitiveness and improve operational efficiency now and for the future,” Ramadurai announced.

Ramadurai added that in 2013 3M Philippines will continue to invest in communities where it operates as this “reflects the philosophy and practice of the company since its foundation”. In 2012 3M Philippines partnered with Haribon Foundation in tree-planting activities at Nuvali, Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

“Sustainability is a natural progression of our values as we reinvigorate our stewardship of the local environment and work towards social responsibility. Whether it’s as simple as providing signages for small communities, planting trees, or enriching the education of young children, 3M will surely strengthen its presence in the country in years to come, ” Ramadurai said.

“As we gear up to celebrate our golden year in 2014, we take this opportunity to honor our history as we build our future. We are very excited to celebrate 3M Philippines’ 50 years of innovation in the Philippines,” Ramadurai who has been posted in the country since 2011, concluded.
