Developed by the Tempongko brothers: Alec, Noel Jr. and Raymond, The Perfect Pint: Craft Beer + Fine Food is out to change the perception of beers in Manila offering a revolution of sorts with a craft beer movement that’s out to shake things up in the Metro.

Instead of serving local commercial beer this bar only offers craft beer, brewed locally by fellow Filipino owned independent breweries as well as its own limited edition home brews to create excitement for customers and allow them to experience something new and refreshing.

But the Perfect Pint isn’t just about beers as they also serve mouth- watering pairings that include, Truffle Fries with Czech Weizen, Kapal Muks with Pale Ale, Liver-wrapped bacon with Dark lager, Smoked Angus Tapa with Egg with Pale Ale and Stinky Pizza with Weizen all prepared under the guidance of Chef Gene Gonzalez.
With over 85 years of combined corporate world experience, Tempongko brothers: Alec, Noel Jr. and Raymond – 3 out of the 7 children of Noel Sr. and Angela Tempongko, the three brothers brought together their experiences working for a multinational alcoholic beverages company (for Alec), a leading meat processing company in the country (for Noel Jr.) and commercial and investment banks (for Raymond).
The Perfect Pint was born when they saw the entry of new local craft brewers in the Philippines. They saw an opportunity to support the local brewers and promote their products by offering an on premise outlet where consumers can taste their products paired with fine food.

Q: What was the vision behind The Perfect Pint’s establishment?
Alec Tempongko: The quest for the “perfect pint” represents a continuing journey, a cause, if you will – to provide consumers with “a notch higher” experience, better choices and introduce them to the delectable world of craft beer & food pairing experiences. Corollary to this vision is to provide a venue for our young local craft brewers to showcase their brews.

Q: What are some of The Perfect Pint’s craft beer and food pairings?
A: Chef Gene Gonzales developed the menu and the beer and food pairings for The Perfect Pint. Being a home brewer himself, he is the authority in both wine and food and beer and food pairings in the country. Some of our food pairing recommendations include:
A. Truffle Fries with Czech Weizen
B. Smoked Fish Spring Rolls with Classic Pilsner or Pale Ale
C. Lengua with Crispy Garlic with Czech Weizen, Pale Ale or Dark Pilsner
D. Seafood Chowder with Czech Weizen or Classic Pilsner

Q: What are your personal favorites?

Alec: The Perfect Pint Fried Rice is a full meal by itself and can be enjoyed with a Weizen or Pale Ale. The Lengua Salpicao can be best enjoyed with an IPA to match the garlic flavor of the Salpicao.

Raymond: I would go for the Kapalmuks (crispy pig’s cheeks) paired with a Weizen and either a pork ear or goat skin salad on the side.

Noel: I personally really like our Liver-wrapped bacon which is paired with the dark lager.

Q: Tell us about the locally crafted beers?

A: Consistent with our vision, we wanted The Perfect Pint to be a venue for the small craft brewer to showcase their creations. One great advantage of sourcing from local craft brewers is the guarantee of freshness and flavor. These are unpasteurized beer and are all sold on tap.

We also showcase our very own homebrews – We started offering Guts N’ Glory, an American style IPA and all bottles were sold out on the first day. We will be offering various limited edition beer styles to create excitement for consumers.
