Adding a bit of color to the concept of sound…

As summer nears to a close it’s time once again to present the next collection of colors by Urbanears. Three new colors will be joining Urbanears for 2012 Fall/Winter; they are Forest, Pumpkin and Rust. These, and the rest of the Urbanears collection are now available at your local retailer, and online at Urbanears.com.

Pumpkin

Forest – Forest is a deep earthy green color, inspired by the leaves and trees of Scandinavia. This shade works well in the wild, especially if you want to blend in, or on the streets of your own neighborhood, where it will give you the feeling of being just a little bit closer to nature.

Pumpkin – This sunny shade of yellow just rolled off the harvest truck, and into our color family. Reminiscent of crisp autumn days, Pumpkin is a shade that is aglow with warmth, and is sure to put a little spring into your step, no matter what the season.

Rust

Rust – There’s nothing rusty about this deep orange shade. Rust is warm and inviting, without all the corrosive properties this amber-colored hue is known for.

Urbanears is a collective out of Scandinavia, motivated by a common interest in global relationships and shared involvement in the relevance of the living brand. Urbanears promotes a deeper connection to color, form and people while providing the freedom to transcend individuality and unify the sound experience.

The concept Urbanears was spawned out of a number of ideas. Primarily, there seemed to be no manufacturer of headphones out there that really shared their belief in what headphones are and how they are typically used. They wanted to produce headphones with a profound understanding of how they are utilized and why.
The vision was to add a number of elements to the concept of performance. Beyond the obvious sound rendition they had a vision of making headphones that felt more like clothes than chromed plastics and felt good to wear in a public space.
Urbanears was created by a number of individuals with very different traits gathered around a belief in the concept. The crew is made up out of entrepreneurs, industrial and graphic designers, tech nerds, former retailers, salesmen and business men – most of which can be described with more than one of these traits.

Urbanears is not intended for any specific sub culture, age group, sex, religion, race or nationality but for anyone who is inclined to listen to music, no matter what kind.
Color is a major part of Urbanears. At any given moment at least a dozen colors are made available with two annual collections. A typical collection includes seven colors from the precious collection and five new ones. Halfway through the cycle two more colors are released  these are referred to as the supplementary drop. Colors are based on having a good and equal mix between dark and light shades, feminine and masculine nuances, and classic elementary colors as well as more unbalanced or experimental shades. Some colors are bound to stay with every collection, such as black and white, but all others may be discontinued with any collection.
The products are named after places and districts from the brand’s hometown Stockholm. This is also what the coordinates on the packaging refers to. In the process of naming they put no values in the choice of locations but rather made sure that they were all important building blocks of what an urban environment is made up of.

In line with the launch of the new collection Urbanears likewise opened its first concept store at the 3rd Floor of the Podium in Ortigas. The store perfectly captures the clean and elegant look of Urbanears while  the white theme perfectly complements its vast variety of  colors.
