THE UK DAILY MAIL REFERS TO HIM AS “ONE OF THE MOST PROLIFIC COMPOSERS OF MUSICALS,” AND FOR GOOD REASON. SIR ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER HAS NOT ONLY COMPOSED 16 OF THE MOST SUCCESSFUL MUSICALS OF OUR TIME, HE HAS ALSO CREATED MUSIC THAT SEAMLESSLY TRANSCENDS BOTH TIME AND GENRES.
His works have earned him a multitude of recognition including seven Tony Awards, three Grammys (including Best Contemporary Classical Composition for Requiem), seven Oliviers, two International Emmys, an Oscar and a Golden Globe, the Praemium Imperiale, the Richard Rodgers Award for Excellence in Musical Theatre, and The Kennedy Center Honor.
Even after 40 years, his music continues to have that extraordinary ability to touch an audience, and lift them to new heights of exhilaration and emotion after just a few bars of music. With his ability to narrate a story through music and lyrics, he has soared in defining contemporary musical theatre in a series of popular compositions imbued with an original rock-lyric band of vivid musical eclecticism, teeming melodiousness, and supreme theatrical flourish. Hundreds of millions have definitely emoted to his greatest hits such as “Memory” from Cats, The Musical; “All I Ask of You” from the tragic love story of The Phantom and Christine in The Phantom of the Opera; and “I Don’t Know How to Love Him” from Jesus Christ Superstar.
